To better prepare the athletes for the games, Brunei will start their centralised training following the official launching of the Games Village, Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex yesterday.

The sports to be contested this year are badminton, lawn bowling, athletics, pencak silat, sepak takraw, cue sport, gasing, hockey and tennis.
Pengiran Sabri bin Pengiran Hj Mohammad, the Deputy Director of Youth and Sports Department as the head of Brunei's contingent said in his welcoming remarks: "Among the objectives of having a training centre are to raise team spirit for all the participating athletes of the nine games, to train athletes, coaches and managers toward self-discipline and the training centre also served to become a learning platform for officers and athletes for improving their weaknesses in terms of training, technical and achievement."
Prior to the officiating of the Games Village, Hj Mohamad said: "The government of His Majesty through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has allocated a huge sum of money to bear the cost of preparation for the Brunei contingent in the 3rd Borneo Games in the final phase that is the formal start of the training centre from Nov 5-26.
"A total of 179 athletes comprising 130 men and 49 women participating in the 3rd Borneo Games will be based at the training centre."
