Doctors, Nurses Complete ACLS, LSCN Course
Bandar Seri Begawan - A total of 23 doctors and 25 nurses completed the Eighth National Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Life Support Course for Nurses (LSCN) programme and received their certificates at a ceremony held at Civil Service Institute yesterday.
Since 2008, the course has produced 116 ACLS qualified doctors and 116 LSCN qualified nurses.
Guest of honour, Dr Hajah Norlila DP Haji Abdul Jalil the Director General of Medical Services, presented the certificates to the course participants. The main objective of the course was to train and assess the doctors and nurses in providing emergency and advanced cardiac resuscitation.
Doctors and nurses were in the same programme as this reflects the dynamic teamwork in the daily running of the health service.
The course participants of the Eighth National ACLS and LSCN programme include those from the government hospitals, military medical service, Gleneagles-JPMC and Panaga Hospital. The ACLS certification is a standard requirement for all health personnel working in critical care and acute settings.
The programme was conducted under the auspices of the National Resuscitation Centre, Ministry of Health, chaired by Dr Hjh Norlila. The programme was led by Chief Instructor Mr William Chong with his team of instructors Dr Hj Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul, Dr Hj Muhd Syafiq bin Abdullah, Dr Hj Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Dr Money, Mr Tan Lian Tat and Dr Newin.
The programme took place from November 2 to 5 at the Civil Service Institute, Rimba. The programme started in the morning with lectures by invited speakers on topics related to cardiac resuscitation. In the afternoon, the course participants were divided into smaller groups for practical sessions where they were taught and assessed using special resuscitation mannequins designed to imitate real life clinical scenarios.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
