Prince Receives Award From Emperor Of Japan
Bandar Seri Begawan - His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, yesterday morning received The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun from His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito, Emperor of Japan at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
The presentation ceremony was held in the State Room at the Imperial Palace in the presence of Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and palace officials.
His Royal Highness attended a group audience with His Majesty the Emperor following the ceremony.
His Royal Highness also met the the new Foreign Minister of Japan, Katsuya Okada at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for bilateral discussions.
His Royal Highness and Mr Okada expressed satisfaction with overall relations, especially in trade and economic cooperation. The two ministers discussed the implementation of the Brunei-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement and the Double Taxation Agreement.
His Royal Highness and Foreign Minister Okada also exchanged views on regional and international affairs.
This year, Brunei Darussalam and Japan celebrates 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
