2nd Batch Of Haj Pilgrims Departs For Mecca
Bandar Seri Begawan - The second batch of haj pilgrims left the country yesterday on Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) Flight BI 4173. A total of 176 intending pilgrims, including four medical officers, boarded the flight.
According to Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd (DHSB), of the total number of haj pilgrims on yesterday's flight, 10 were travelling on the DHSB package, 76 under HTH Travel Agency, 38 under Humairah Travel Centre (Borneo) Sdn Bhd and 48 under Titian Travel and Tours.
It was a full house at the Brunei International Airport as family members and friends bade farewell to their relatives who intend to perform the haj in the holy city of Mecca in order to fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam.
This year, Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) is operating four chartered flights to Medina from November 3 to 6, bringing more than 700 passengers from Brunei to Mecca for the pilgrimage.
In a press release, RBA stated it has, for the convenience of passengers, arranged special advance check-in services from 8 pm to 11 pm, a day before each of the chartered flights.
All chartered flight passengers are being allowed an additional 10 kilogrammes baggage allowance upon their return for the carriage of up to five litres of 'zam-zam' water.
On the day the first charter flight took off from Brunei on Nov 3, haj pilgrims were bade a safe journey by representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, including Religious Affairs Minister Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Hj Md Zain bin Hj Serudin, as well as RBA senior management and staff.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
