Annual Census Due For Submission, Employers Told

Bandar Seri Begawan - The annual census of employers and employees wages, rate of earning and working hours for the year 2009 is now due for submission, the Research and Statistics Section of the Labour Department said in a press statement yesterday.

According to the statement, all completed forms or diskettes, must be returned with a copy of the licence or labour quota to the Research and Statistics Section or to any of the department's district branches before November 30, 2009.

Those who have yet to obtain their forms are required to collect the documents from the Research and Statistics Section, which is located on the fifth floor of the Labour Department or from any of the department's district branches throughout the country.

MI employers registered with the Labour Department, except for those who are employing domestic helpers are required to produce the documents for the annual census of employers and employee wages, rate of earning and working hours as stated under the Employment Information Act.

Companies which have ceased operations or inactive are exempted from furnishing the information but are still required to inform in writing of their company's situation before or on the aforementioned date.

Under the Employment Information Act, any employer who is found guilty of willfully refuses or neglects to furnish the information required within the time allowed and would be subjected to a fine of 32,500 and/or jailed for six months.
