Bandar Seri Begawan - A group of three senior officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau and members of the National Anti Drugs Association (BASMIDA), represented by its president Datin Hjh Masni Hj Mohd Ali, Vice-president Dyg Linda Aini Abdullah and treasurer Dyg Hjh Ramlah Hj Abd Ghani left the country for Thailand yesterday for a study visit on the Treatment and Rehabilitation Programme.

During the four-day programme, the group will be visiting the office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) where they will be attending briefing on narcotics control in Thailand, ONCB's structure and international cooperation in drug control, demand reduction strategy as well as visit to the Narcotics Exhibition Centre of ONCB.

While at the ONCB, the group will also be making a courtesy call on the Secretary-General of Narcotics Control Board and on the same day-will also be taken for a visit to the Pharamongkutklao Hospital.

At this hospital, the group will be briefed on the psychiatric intervention for drug addicts suffering from psychiatric co-morbidity (psychosis, depression, anxiety, paranoid, mania, etc).

Other places of visits throughout the programme include the Thanyarak Institute, Drug Addict Rehabilitation Centre, Department of Probation, Ministry of Justice (Baan Lad Lum Khaew) Pathumthani Province, Pathumthani Correctional Institution for Drug Addicts and Women Correctional Institution for Drug Addicts. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
