Speed Indicator, Road Safety Banner Set Up At Belait Bypass
Bandar Seri Begawan - As part of ongoing efforts to promote the Brunei "Tell-A-Friend" road safety campaign, a speed indicator was mounted on a police vehicle along the Badas-Seria Bypass during peak hours yesterday afternoon.
The campaign is a continuous programme run by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP). It was officially launched by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on September 30 this year, in conjunction with BSP's 80th anniversary celebrations.
In yesterday's road safety promotion that was conducted by the Traffic Control and Investigations Department Belait Branch of the Royal Brunei Police Force, the speed indicator measured the speed of oncoming vehicles, and displayed the speed in a way that was clearly visible to the respective drivers. The brightly-coloured banner meanwhile detailed several road safety precautions.
Leading the road safety campaign promotion yesterday was the Head of Traffic Control and Investigations Department Belait Branch, Senior Inspector Awg Mohd Ismail bin Abdullah, and Head of Security and Emergency Response Officer Awg Rosman bin Abd Rahman.
In light of sporadic thundershowers and slippery road conditions, Awg Mohd Ismail reminded road users to reduce speed to well within the speed limit, and to comply with the road safety regulations to avoid unnecessary mishaps.
Yesterday's road safety promotion, the first of its kind to be carried out, began at 4.30pm and ran for over an hour. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
