Belait Office Spared From Fiery End
Bandar Seri Begawan - A Belait office was almost reduced to ashes if not for quick-thinking staffers who were able to swiftly put out a fire sparked by an overheated electrical socket.
The fire quickly spread to the office curtain, but within minute, was extinguished, sparing the lives of everyone present.
Sua Tian Leng, the owner of the office, heaped praise on his staff for applying the knowledge gained for a previous fire prevention course. The personnel were also able to rescue important documents and valuable items from the office when the fire broke at about 3.45 pm on Wednesday.
"It sounded like firecrackers going off," said a worker, who together with his colleague, decided Co investigate the source-of the sound only to learn the socket had caught fire by this point.
Following the recent fire which gutted three shophouses nearby, Sua is thankful that his staff had done an excellent job in containing the fire and preventing its spread.
Firefighters arrived at the Jalan Bunga Rampai office shortly after to assess the damage and also ensure the electricity supply to that part of the building was disconnected as a safety precaution.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
