TOYOTA Classics Is Back In Town

Bandar Seri Begawan - The highly anticipated 15th edition of the TOYOTA Classics featuring well-known Prague Chamber Orchestra will be performing at the International Convention Centre in Berakas tonight, according to a press release.

According to Mr Ninan Chacko, NBT Managing Director, thanks to the outstanding support of the music lovers in the local community, tickets have almost sold out.

"As we have done for the last 15 editions, all proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to charity. This year the beneficiaries are Learning Ladders Society and Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al Hajah Maryam. On behalf of NBT, I would like to thank the public for their kind generosity," he added when asked about the aim of the TOYOTA Classics through the years.

With a 58-year history and an average of 80 annual performances, the Prague Chamber Orchestra is well known in Europe and internationally.

The repertoire of this orchestra stems mainly from the Classicist heritage (Haydn, Mozart, early Beethoven) but finds much inspiration also in the High Baroque (Bach, Handel, Vivaldi). The instrumentation practised by the orchestra, however, can be found in music of the early Romantic period (Mendelssohn, Schubert), quite frequently in works by 20th century composers (Britten, Honegger; Prokofiev, Stray inski).

Featuring Charles Olivieri-Munro as conductor and Marie Fajtova as soprano, local music lovers will be treated to a night of enchanting music.

For the very reasonable ticket prices, local music enthusiasts are indeed very fortunate to be able to enjoy the performance of an orchestra of this calibre.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
