Reaching Out To Special Needs Children
Bandar Seri Begawan - Executive committee members of Huang Hui Association led by its chairman Mr Yapp Boon Sing yesterday made a visit to the Child Development Centre, Ministry of Health in Gadong.
Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Occupational Therapist, Dyg Hajah Neza.
According to Mr Yapp the visit is part of the association's annual activity. In previous years they have also visited the Welfare Centre and Old Folks Centre in Seria. During yesterday's visit, a donation of $850 worth of daily necessities, including a variety of food and drinks, was also presented.
Mr Yapp said the aim of the visit was to have a closer look at the facilities of the centre and to gain some understanding on special needs children in Brunei.
Dayang Hajah Neza said overall, there are 70 children at the centre who suffer mental development delay, age ranging from two years to five years.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
