Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 50 students from the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) visited Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Mary yesterday.

The students, currently doing the Bachelor of Education programme in Economics, Accounting, MIB, Physical Education and Arts at the university, were on the field trip to conduct a research study and survey on the process of educating, training and caring of the special needs children at the centre and how the centre is funded and managed.

As student teachers, their objective in this field trip is to integrate and incorporate what they have learned from the centre today into their teaching in the future," said Dr Hjh Rosmawijiah Jawawi, a lecturer from SHBIE.

The students were greeted by the centre's Head of Administration, Hj Abd Hamid Maaruf, who presented the students with a short video clip highlighting the aims and the different types of programmes conducted for the special children, They were then presented with a briefing on the overview of Pusat Ehsan by Pg Datin Hjh Noraini PDNLDR Pg Hj Abd Momin, Executive Operational Trustee at the centre.The students were briefed on the status, structural organisation, types of educational programmes as well as present and future development of the centre.-- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
