DST's Senior Staff Attend IOSH Managing Safely Course
The programme began by taking participants through the reasons for managing health and safety, and then progressed to provide participants with the necessary techniques to manage safety in their work environment. Among the topics covered are Assessing Risks, Controlling Risks, Understanding Your Responsibilities (Law), Identifying Hazards, Investigating Accidents and Incidents, Measuring Performance, and Protecting Our Environment.
After the course, participants took an exam to test their understanding of the course materials. Upon successful completion of their project, they will be awarded the internationally recognised `IOSH Managing Safely' certificate.
It was developed by the UK's Institute of Occupational Health and Safety but has widespread application in Brunei. The principles of managing health and safety apply equally anywhere in the world.
Course leader Neil from Megamas said, "It was encouraging to see so many senior staff members at the course. It is widely known that companies with the best safety performance always have strong leadership and commitment from the very top." -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
