Bandar Seri Begawan - Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Raja Dato Paduka Hj Awg Mohd Ali Hj Mohd Daud, in his capacity as a member of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council and Badan Tanmiah Board of Directors, officiated the ground work for the four units of semi-detached houses built on Badan Tanmiah Islamic Religious Council property, yesterday.

The ceremony that also saw the laying of the foundation stone to officially mark the beginning of construction took place at the site in Lot 61365, Kg Anggerek Desa, Mukim Berakas. The ceremony was initiated with a mass recital of Surah Al-Fatihah.

With a price tag of $269,469, the budget comes from Kumpulan Wang Pentadbiran Am (MUIB). The houses being built on the BaitulMal land lot is expected to be ready in nine months. The rights to develop the homes were awarded to contractor, Top Deco Sdn Bhd, and are to be designed by Arkitek HAZA.

These four semi-detached houses will be rented out to interested members of the public thus becoming part of Badan Tanmiah Brunei Islamic Religious Council's revenue base.

Badan Tanmiah is an agency under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, established on September 4, 1995, under the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam as an investment body that functions as managing part of the Islamic Religious Council's property for the purpose of development in the interests of Muslims in the country.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
