Bandar Seri Begawan - An Attractive fare of B$70 awaits anyone who wishes to travel to Pontianak in Kalimantan, Indonesia, from Brunei, making it one of the cheapest fares as compared to other transport operators that charge B$100 per trip.

Bus Express Service is gaining popularity among travellers in view of the increasing number of foreign workers working in'
Brunei.

Most Bruneians prefer to travel by land using Bus Express Service to neighbouring states of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Kuching, Sarawak and Pontianak, Kalimantan, Indonesia for family holidays and business purposes.

Supervisor of Bintang Jaya Express Sdn Bhd, Brunei Darussalam Agent, Awg Pungut (Kassim) bin Osman, yesterday said, the company will open its ticket counter office located at Bandar Seri Begawan Car Park Building (Parking Bertingkat) in the capital after the Hari Raya celebration.

He said the company has two express buses that transit via Brunei Darussalam. One bus operates Brunei -Miri - BintuluSibu -Kuching - Pontianak route, while the other bus runs Brunei -Limbang -Lawas and Kota Kinabalu route.

He also said the company is planning to roll out promotions during the school holidays to destinations like Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Pontianak.

Early bookings and further information can be obtained from its office in the capital or contact the supervisor at +6738128160.

When asked about the safety of passengers during the trip, Awg Pungut said, so far no cases have been reported and everything has been going smoothly.

During the trip to any targeted destinations, the bus express will make pit stops at several locations for 15 minutes to enable passengers to buy food and drinks and to use the washroom before continuing its journey.

Awg Pungut said majority of the passengers are Indonesian workers working in Brunei or coming to Brunei. Local travellers normally travel with family members during school holidays and long public holidays.

He said the 40-seater Express Bus is equipped with air-con, TV, and folding chair for the convenience of passengers during the long journey.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
