'Tadarus' By Ministries, Depts Continue
Bandar Seri Begawan - Tadarus ceremonies continue to be held throughout the country yesterday by various ministries and departments to further enliven and take full benefit of the holy month of Ramadhan.
The Prime Ministers Office and the departments under it held the tadarus ceremony at Kg Salambigar Mosque.
The ceremony was co-organised by the State Judiciary Department, Attorney General's Chamber, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Radio Television Brunei (RTB) as well as the mosque's Takmir Committee.
More than 200 people attended the event; among them was the Syarie Chief Justice Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Hj Yahya Hj Ibrahim, as well as a number of Syariah High Court Judges. Also in attendance were Deputy State Mufti Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Hj Suhaili Hj Mohiddin and senior officers of various departments under PMO.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah before the tadarus commenced. The congregation took turns reciting several verses from juzuk 16 to 30 of Al-Quran.
Prior to the ceremony, a guide book on tadarus and takhtim Al-Quran was distributed among the congregants. The guide book was published by the State Mufti Department and Prime Minister's Office.
A tahlil prayer and doa selamat were read followed by mass Maghrib prayer after the breaking of the fast.
The Syarie Chief Justice also handed over wakaf (endowment) in the form of a set of a prayer rug, to the head imam of the mosque.
The PMO delegation will continue their series of tadarus ceremony at Kg perpindahan Ratak Mosque at Mukim Bokok in Temburong District today.
Women officers and staff of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) also held the ceremony led by a group of 100 officers from Brunei-Muara District.
According to the officers, this is the second year that women officers of MoRA have conducted the ceremony which is traditionally carried out by the men only.
This year, the group of women officers from all sections and departments within the ministry stared the tadarus in Tutong on August 25 followed by Temburong on August 28.
The next and final destination for the group will be in Brunei-Muara District with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony to mark the completion of the tadarus ceremony.
The ceremony which was held at Kg Pandan Mosque began with a reading of the A1- Fatihah followed by the tadarus, tahlil, doa anvah and a special Ramadhan lecture on health and habits practiced in the holy month which was presented by a lecturer from the Islamic Da'wah Centre Hjh Rogayah Pehin Begawan Khatib Hj Md Wahid.
Presentation of donations to 17 single mothers and orphans selected from residents from around the mosque brought the event to conclusion.
The ceremony was attended by Rashidah Hj Md Zain, wife of the permanent secretary at MoRA.
Another tadarus ceremony was also held yesterday at Zainab Mosque in Lumut by the Ministry of Education (MoE).The delegation comprised 100 officers and staff of the ministry was led by Acting Minister of Education, Deputy Minister Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman.
The tadarus was followed by a tahlil and a doa arwah. Also joining in the event were officers and staff of MoE in Belait. The ceremony also saw the presentation of a donation to the mosque in the form of a P A system and various cleaning equipment. The congregation also performed mass Maghrib prayers soon after breaking fast.
