Police Report 38 Road Accidents In 5 Days
Bandar Seri Begawan - A total of 38 road accidents were recorded around the country from August 15 to 19, with five people sustaining minor injuries, according to police logs released yesterday by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).
Out of the 38 accidents, 23 were reports of car-oncar collisions, while 15 were self-accidents.
The breakdown of accidents based on districts recorded Brunei-Muara District with 18 accidents, Belait with 10 accidents, nine accidents in the Tutong District and one accident in the Temburong District.
In a compilation of police reports from August 15 to 20, the RBPF Public Relations Unit listed a total of 10 theft cases.
These offences were committed around areas in Kampung Tanah Jambu, Jalan Laksamana in Belait, Jalan Kianggeh, Kampung Delima 1, Kampung Panaga, Kampung Pekan Seria, Kampung Serusop, Brunei International Airport in Berakas, Kampung MataMata in Gadong, Kampung Salambigar and Jalan Muara.
Items that were reported stolen in these areas included a cable worth $923, a Toshiba washing machine, five stainless steel lids for garbage cans, four mobile phones, $150 in cash, a fire extinguisher, a generator, a gas can, and two bicycles.
Two cars have also been reported stolen, a Ford Escape with licence plate registration KK 9646 and a white Mitsubishi Pajero with licence plate registration BF 4420, which was reported stolen on August 19 around the Lim Seng Kok building in the capital:
Also in the list of reports were four house break-ins and theft cases which were committed around Kampung Perpindahan Lambak Kanan, Kampung Delima 1 and Kampung Pancha Delima.
The list of stolen items in the areas include an Astro set receiver, a piano, a bathroom fan blower, $5,000 in cash, some jewelry, two mobile phones, a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of perfume.
Meanwhile, 12 reports of thefts that occurred in buildings around the country were also filed by the police force within the six-day period.
Locations where these offences were committed include areas around Jalan Dato Ratna in Kampung Kiarong, Kampung Pekan Muara, Kampung Sengkurong, Kampung Tungku in Gadong, Kampung Lumut, Kampung Telanai, Universiti Brunei Darussalam's Institute of Medicine, Berakas Camp, Brunei International Airport in Berakas, Jalan Ong Sum Ping, Sungai Duhon in Belait District and the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
Stolen items in these areas include two Malaysian passports, one Brunei and one Malaysian identity card, a gold ring, a wristwatch, two mobile phones, $200 in cash, two laptops, a necklace, six car rims, a grass-cutter, a grass poison pump, a piggy bank, a computer set, an iPhone 3G mobile phone, a digital camera, a $4,000 hand communicator with model type 375 and cash amounting to $48,000.
In addition, the police force also listed down four reports of vandalism cases, five cases of causing grievous hurt, seven cases of fraud, seven offences under the Immigration Act, a case of being bitten by a dog, seven cases of runaway employees, 11 Marine Police inspections, one offence under fire arms and explosives and two offences under the Custom Act.
A report of a gambling offence was also registered in the police logs in which the RBPF managed to apprehend eight foreigners involved with the gambling offence at Simpang 100 in Gadong on August 16.
Furthermore, eight locals aged between 25 and 55 were also arrested by the police for being involved in a gambling offence at the Kampung Rimba housing scheme on August 17.
Also in the report by the police force were eight offences under the Drugs Act, a case of SMS disturbance, one fatality case, a natural disaster case, two cases of trespassing, two cases of runaway maids, a case of cross-dressing whereby a local aged 16 was arrested at Kampung Lorong Bebatik, and four arrests of loan sharks.
Other reports filed by the police under Miscellaneous Acts included two fires, one arrest related to copyrighting and two arrests on two males aged 19 and 24 involving a theft case.
