Special Passes For Immigration Offenders

Bandar Seri Begawan - Four Indian men were issued special passes and one summon letter during Ups Bungkas 136 conducted by Law Enforcement Unit Tutong District led by a senior Immigration officer from the Kuala Belait Law Enforcement department and five enforcement officers.

The operation targeted Perusahaan Farid & Izah, Ahbab Trading Company in Tutong and the Chinese cemetery in Kg Panchur Dulit, Tutong.

The four men were ordered to report to the BSB Law Enforcement unit for further investigation.

Foreign workers in Brunei Darussalam must serve relevant employers. If they fail to do so, a six-month imprisonment or $2,000 fine will be imposed or both under Immigration Rule 35 (2) and they can be charged with a $600 compound.

Rule 35(2) states foreign workers working in the country must work relevantly as stated in the working pass. Violators face not more than six months imprisonment or not more than $2,000 fine or both and they can be charged with a $600 compound under chapter 58(1)(A).
