Bandar Seri Begawan - More than 150 officers and staff of the Building and Maintenance Section of the Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday performed a series of prayers to commemorate the Nisfu Syaaban, to usher in the holy month of Ramadhan, and to seek blessings for the departed, among others.

The function began with the performing of the "Sunat Hajat" prayer to seek protection against the H1N1 flu pandemic, followed by a "Tahlil" ceremony and a "Doa Arwah."

Among those present was the Head of the Building and Maintenance Section, Pg Ali bin Pg Hj Mohammad.
During the ceremony, Pg Ali highlighted the importance of remembering past or historic events as part of gaining valuable knowledge.

"Moreover, in organising an event or activity, there needs to be careful planning, co-ordination and cooperation from all sides," he said.
"These attitudes need to be instilled in efforts to face challenges for future progress."
