300 International Delegates To Partake In BRIDEX 2009
Bandar Seri Begawan - About 300 international delegates from over 40 countries are expected to participate in the Brunei International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BRIDEX) 2009 from August 12-15.
These delegates who are sponsored, will attend the exhibition consisting of top level, high quality international delegates, "these are the people that the exhibitors are looking for", according to Lt Col (Rtd) Amir Hamzah Hj Hanafi, chief executive officer of Royal Brunei Technical Services during a press conference at the new BRIDEX building in Jerudong.
Among the confirmed delegation include ministers, deputy ministers of defence, chief officers, police commissioners, permanent secretaries and heads of procurement of various countries. Lt Col (Rtd) Amir Hamzah explained that with the small number of exhibitors partaking in the event coining it "a boutique exhibition" providing more visitor traffic coming to view the displays.
"Its small, it's manageable and particularly for the exhibitors they can always stand out in the crowd compared to being among 1,200 exhibitors, with 200 to 250, surely you can stand out," he said.
The CEO went on to say that some 10,000 trade visitors are expected to attend the BRIDEX2009.
A total of 10 local small and medium enterprises will be among the 250 exhibitors promoting locally-made products, five of which are from the iCentre.
Brunei, he said is a politically neutral country, "we are friends with everyone and enemies to none, so hence because of that we are able to invite exhibitors around the world to come here together to this marketplace, to this gathering'.
"What we want to happen is for them to take away from BRIDEX very strong re ship with one another and only then other things such as business facilitation and so on can happen, that is how BRIDEX is different, that is how it would provide value to the people coming to the show," he said.
This he added would result in establishing interactions, relationships, friendships and sharing experience which BRIDEX had aimed for.
"The last four week since we moved in to the site, the excitement continues to build up. This is something that we are really proud of, the biggest exhibition event Brunei is hosting," he said.
Pertaining to transportation, Lt Col (Rtd) Amir Hamzahpointed out that visitors to the exhibition can park their vehicles at the Jerudong Park playground where they will be picked up by shuttle buses.
He said that the frequency of the shuttle buses is between five and 15 minutes, and that the 30 minute demonstration for day show from Friday to Saturday will begin at 11 am.
