Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei Darussalam yesterday received a goodwill visit from the KLD Tunas Samudera sailing ship from the Royal Malaysian Navy, which will be in Brunei until July 27.

To commemorate the visit, the KLD Tunas Samudera yesterday held a reception for senior officers of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

Present as the guest of honour at the reception was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi bin Hj Mohamad Ussof, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Also present at the reception was Malaysian High Commissioner Dato' Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari.

During the reception, the ship's officers and crewmembers performed a rendition of "Sloop John B", which is the ship's song.

The KLD Tunas Samudera is seven years old and has become the only sailing ship owned by the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN).

The sailing ship is used to teach youth and members of the RMN about sea navigation, which will also improve leadership and cooperation.

The Commanding Officer of the ship is Lt Cdr Md Zaidi, who is assisted by 40 crewmembers

The KLD Tunas Samudera is currently in Brunei in transit, and is scheduled to head to Sulawadi Indonesia to participate in the international Tall Ship Assembly.
The KLD Tunas Samudera will be open to the public at the Royal Brunei Navy Muara Port on July 26, 2009 from 10.30am until 2pm. Members of the public are welcome to pay a visit
