14 Lucky Babies Born On His Majesty's Birthday
Bandar Seri Begawan - Parents in the Sultanate dream of having their babies born on July 15 as it falls on His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's birthday.
Mothers who expect to deliver their bundles of joy during the month of July often hope that it will be on the auspicious date as they consider it to be very lucky that their children will celebrate their birthdays on the same day the Monarch does.
As the Sultanate celebrated His Majesty's birthday yesterday, 14 newborns comprising six boys and eight girls were welcomed into the world.
According to the nurses, Siti Fauziah and Heriayati, the first baby was delivered at 12.35am in Ripas Hospital. The newborn baby girl is the first child of Julaihi bin Hj Md Daud and Nurshrune binti Mohammad Heldy from Pengkalan Gadong. She is also the first granddaughter in the family.
During an interview with the Bulletin, Julaihi said, "Alhamdulillah I give praise to Allah as my wife has safely delivered our baby and what's more is that she was born on His Majesty's birthday. I wasn't really expecting it but I am absolutely proud and happy about it. My parents too are delighted about my baby daughter's birth."
The second baby girl was born via caesarian section at 1.45am followed by the third baby girl who was born at 3.40am.
