Two Indonesians were sentenced to three months' jail and three strokes of the cane by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court yesterday after they pleaded guilty to overstaying in Brunei Darussalam.
The defendants - Yastakim, 39, and Wahyu Sugianto, 25 - who are both from Semarang, Indonesia, were arrested two days ago by a team of Immigration personnel from the Enforcement Section at a house that was under construction at the Housing Development Scheme in Kg Rimba.
According to the Immigration prosecuting officer, Yastakim's pass expired on March 8, 2007, while the visit pass of Wahyu Sugianto expired on March 20, 2006.
