Twenty-seven-year-old Awang Kamarulzaman bin Bundan has recited the Dua Kalimah Syahada to officiate his conversion to Islam in a religious ceremony which took place yesterday afternoon.

He chose the name Awang Muhd Kamarulzaman bin Abdullah Bundan and said that he embraced Islam due to the pure values of the religion, as well as the encouragement from his siblings. Working at the Suri Seri Begawan (SSB) Hospital in Kuala Belait, Awang Muhd Kamarulzaman is the 11th child from 12 siblings and nine of his siblings have already converted to Islam.

Present at the conversion ceremony was the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital CEO, Awang Mohamad bin Haji Abd Hamid.

The event took place at a private residence in Jalan Pandan Lapan Kuala Belait and was further enlivened with a dikir performance by the Sinar Islam Seria Association and ended with the sprinkling of bunga rampai to further bless the ceremony.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
