In the current second leg of his tour which began in 2003, Krishna has travelled to Thailand and West Malaysia. But on June 23, his hopes of completing his tour on his bike were dashed when a group of thugs stole his bicycle and his cash shortly after he arrived in Miri, Sarawak.
With the aid of good Samaritans, Krishna was able to come to Brunei, which was his intended next stop on the world tour.
Now, Krishna is seeking the public's help in acquiring a new bicycle and some funding for his next leg of the trip, which will be to the Middle East.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has lent Krishna a helping hand by providing him accommodation at the Youth Hostel in the capital.
"I am travelling around the world on bicycle to spread the word of peace and brotherhood to the world, and to send a message of hope to save the world from HIV and AIDS," Krishna said in an interview with the Bulletin.
"I am hoping that the good people of Brunei will find it in their hearts to assist me and give donations so I can acquire a new bicycle to continue my journey."
Krishna previously came to Brunei in 2003 for the first leg of his world cycling tour, which included Singapore, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Philippines and China. His second leg now will include the Middle East, Europe, South America and North America.
Members of the public who wish to help or donate to Krishna can do so by sending donations (addressed to Krishna) to the reception area of the Youth Centre (Pusat Belia) in the capital. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
