G4S Showcase Talented Young Minds

Bandar Seri Begawan - Young Bruneians were given the opportunity to show their creativity and expression though art, recently.

That was the aim of an exhibition held to mark the anniversary for the founding of G4S, a security firm in Brunei.

Outstanding art work, drawings and photography were done by six Brunei International School art students and was shown at Sheraton Utama Hotel. The student's artwork was assisted by their two art teachers; Ben Peacocke and Jason Chung.

The event, sponsored by G4S, Sheraton Utama Hotel and Sunlit Advertising, the exhibits depicts exceptional images in painting and in abstract of the trials and tribulations of life seen through the eyes of these young talented students.

Some of their works may be personal to them; some may not and be just pretty pictures or creations that they have conjured up in their creative minds.

These talented young minds are Nur Khalisah Ahmad, Mark Chong, Adam Hanif, Nur 'Ayeshah Ahmad, Siti Raudhah Abidin and Muhammad Isa Dennis.

Called "Bittersweet; as days go by...." the artwork is about how to express or how to relieve themselves from the feelings that they bear.

Mr Nathan Ambrose, Country Manager of the security firm said not only is the teenagers given the chance to express themselves in art but also through sports in Brunei.

He further added that the exhibition is an opportunity for teenagers to develop their individual emotions and social responsibilities.

Being the largest security firm in the world, Ambrose also said G4S has chosen 14 other individuals from across the globe for the Olympics known as G4S 4Teen.

Coming from countries including Bangladesh, India, Kenya and the United Kingdom, these individuals have been given the chance to compete amongst themselves through sports and are mentored by the great long distance Olympic runner, Haile Gebrselassie.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
