Bandar Seri Begawan - Approximately 100 residents around the Kampong Masin and Bebatik area yesterday morning took part in a charity walkathon for orphans of Kampong Masin and Bebatik. The walkathon around the vicinity of Kampong Masin Mosque was organised by the Kg Masin Takmir Mosque Committee and Kg Masin Consultative Council Committee.

The walkathon 5km for men and 4km for women started with a 15-minute aerobics headed by Cikgu Ahmad bin Hail Tudin and a doa by Mosque Affairs Officer, Awang Haji Shaifrillah bin Haji Ahmad.

The public was given the opportunity to donate by placing their donations in a prepared box before the walkathon began.

In attendance as the guest of honour was Information Director at the Prime Minister's Office, Dr Haji Md Hadi bin Hj Mohd Melayong.

Also at the event were Deputy Home Affairs Permanent Secretary, Awang Haji Mohd Abdoh bin Hato Seri Setia Haji Abd Salam, head of Kampong Masin, Awang Moksin bin Hj Kam is as well as committee members of the Kg Masin Consultative Council and Kg Masin Mosque Takmir.

Awang Moksin in his speech stated that the orphans' fund for the village managed to accumulate $738 from the walkathon and donations received from private companies within the area. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
