Bandar Seri Begawan - Twenty-Two participants comprising 18 males and four females of Youth Basic Fire Prevention course received their certificates of completion yesterday at Youth Centre in the capital.

The course, which was organised by the Brunei- Muara Youth and Sports branch with the cooperation from the Public Relations Section at the Fire and Rescue Department, was held from June 15 until June 17.

The guest of honour at the event was the Senior Special Duties Officer at Youth and Sports Department, Awang Haji Muhd Zamri bin Dato Paduka Haji Hamdani, who presented the certificates to the participants.

Awang Haji Mohd Zali bin Hj Arsad in his opening remarks said, "The course will provide opportunities to expose the youths on handling fire outbreaks so that these youths can contribute in the future."

The course was aimed at giving participants the opportunity to gain knowledge on how to extinguish fire and how fire spreads, as well as identifying the various types of fire extinguishers which enables them to provide service when fires break out. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
