How about the Airport Mall?

What fully financed project takes so many years to complete?

The Airport Mall has been in the process of completion for a few years now!

Although we (i.e. the investor) have been continuously assured that the project is due for completion, obviously the 85% completed project is still far from reality.

Comparing against projects of similar nature these projects started its foundations this year and yet there are progressing very well and have even been completed already completed!

As an investor, we are definitely waiting for our ROI (Return of Investment) income.

So! What's the story of the airport mall?

Raya is the best time for charitable activities

It seems that celebration of Raya this year seems like no celebration at all. Moderation is always good, but is it really moderation and not desperation?

Sometimes Raya is the one time in a year where people spend time treating their families, buying them new clothes, give their parents cash and gifts, the children pocket money.

It's not all about interior deco and wanting to impress neighbours.

Remember Raya is also the time for charitable activities, to remember (and provide) for those less fortunate than us so that they too can enjoy Raya.

He stole shots at night without our knowledge

I'd like to share with you an unforgettable experience.

There was a Charity Talent Show recently. I went there with two friends and we were dropped off by my driver.

The crowd there consisted mostly of teenagers because the show was performed by young local talents.

I could not believe that our teens here in Brunei would behave like that in front of spectators which included the people who donated to the charity plus the three of us.

My friends and I thought that the music that night was too loud (the singers seemed to be shouting) and the teens were jumping up and down the same way. We didn't enjoy the show plus we got a headache from the smoke and we certainly didn't like the way the teenagers behaved.

Bruneians shouldn't be like the westerners. We have our own values and dignity.

My friends and I didn't wait for the show to end. We went out to wait at the gate. Then came this light blue Japanese car, which slowed down and the guy who sat in the passenger seat behind took our picture using his camera.

We were shocked but couldn't hide our faces on time. Then as the car passed by, he took one shot again. What is the meaning of this?

Now we have unidentified photographers in Brunei. What will they do with our pictures?

Edit and sell them?

Make them into porno pictures and send them through the Internet?

Not even peanuts from KL to Bandar

We had one of the worst flying experiences on board flight BI874 on September 23, 2005 from KL to BSB. Being delayed for 40+ minutes was to be expected.

But, before boarding, we were informed by an RBA Staff at the departure hall, KLIA that 16 of us would not be served any meals because they were under-catered. (He explained that it was not their fault, and meals were double catered from Brunei).

But don't worry he said, drinks will be served throughout the flight.

He said we were informed earlier so as to avoid public complaints later on.

We didn't have any meals four hours before the flight because we thought we'd be served on board.

We couldn't go out to the airport shops to get food either.

It crossed my mind that maybe peanuts or Instant Noodles would be served, but I was wrong!

No routine complimentary drinks & peanuts were served, either.

Even though it was a 2-hour flight and could be considered a short-distance one, when you see trays of food passing your way but none of them is for you, you'd be furious as well.

We felt like helpless animals begging for food!

Not even peanuts did we get!

If RBA anticipated this food shortage problem, surely they could have stocked up instant microwaveable food etc.

Even hot rolls with jam would have been a luxury food for us on the flight.

We were full fare passengers, having paid all. Where did this money go?

We demand a public apology, and a reason for this incompetent service.

We hope RBA would look into this matter seriously so that loyal passengers will not seek other airlines.

Calling card during promotion fails to work

Recently there was an offer in the prepaid calling cards provided by one of the local telephone service.

Although it was giving an offer now but it is not functioning properly!

I had been dialling the line, and all that they said was that the phone line was busy. Can the phone line be busy for the whole 24 hours?

I kept on trying but things never get any better. Can someone do something about this matter?

Installments vanish in one swipe

I am pretty sure everyone has heard about buying mobile phones on installment basis using one's credit card.

I was very interested to get one (phone) since I could not afford to buy it in one go. Since I have two credit cards from two top banks, I went to a shop to ask how to get about it.

As it turned out, it was not an installment scheme at all.

For instance, if the phone that you wanted to get was $900, then the vendor would simply swipe the amount $900 to our card and then we pay the $900 monthly.

It is called installment payment but why swipe $900 in one go?

Can't the bank just charge us monthly, for example $75+ for this case, and not swipe the whole $900 to our card?

What if my credit limit is $1000?

Then I could not apply for it, or for instance if my balance is only left $800 or below - I may be disqualified too.

When we loan a house, we pay the loan, which is deducted from our salary, until the date of maturity.

Imagine if the credit card limit is $200k.

So, if we want to loan a house using our credit card, maybe cost $190K, then our credit card will be swiped $190K and then we pay monthly.

I hope my views will be considered and would be very grateful to get some response.

Seria taxi stand needs improving

The high standard of living in Brunei Darussalam depends on the Gas and Oil obtained in Seria, where I was born at Well No. 22.

However, those responsible still haven't made an effort to look into complaints made by the Seria taxi drivers to improve their taxi stand by lengthening the roof in order to cover at least two taxis.

I hope improvement would be made soon.

Major lag especially connecting to USA

Is e-Speed (Brunet) having problems again? Trace route shows that major lag in all segments traffic going out of BruNet.

When we we're with STIX (Singtel) the ping times was always respectable but now with TMHK and Teleglobe it seems like Brunet is becoming Lag-Net.

Lag lag lag all the time. Trace route results show major lag to all servers eg. Europe,Asia and especially the USA. If there is a problem please issue a statement and let the consumers know.

I didn't pay thousands of dollars for a LAG service like this. If there is another ISP I will be long gone!
