Sorry Concorde didn't come : Concorde
never came to Brunei. I think it had never been even to KL. But it did
come to Singapore where for a time BA and Sia had a joint service.
Then the Malaysians complained that when it flew over Malaysia the
sonic boom was disturbing the fish. 1983 we didn't have an old
airport. Brunei International Airport has been in use since 1973/1974.
Even during independence ceremony to ferry the British VIPs like
Prince Charles to Brunei, RAF VC-10 and Queens FlightBAe146 and
British Airways B767 were used. Perhaps someone from the Civil
Aviation Department can come on line and settle this matter once and
for all. Puteri your eyes are playing tricks on you. And that is not
harsh or cruel statement C. Reeves

Flares in refinery and Lumut : Brunei
Shell should be more environmentally conscious. Not just take Brunei
profits greedily all these years. The flares in Lumut and the refinery
are worse. These are polluting the environment, especially those at
the Brunei refinery. People living behind at Kampong Baru are really
in trouble. A thin film of ash is on their car’s body, windows and
windscreen each morning. People with asthma find it hard to breath.
Children are discouraged from playing outside in the evenings. Even
when we hang out clothes to dry they have pieces of carbon and carbon
smell on them even after washing. The company should be considerate
towards all these. Long ago, they promised to decrease the emissions
to zero. They said with new technology it could be done. Then they did
nothing. Come on company, you are contributing to our ill health.
Don't just think about your money and your profits. Think about the
community for a change. You are really being a selfish and arrogant
company. The pollution you are spreading around is deadly. How many
asthma, bronchitis and lung cancer cases over the last 40 years are
caused by the emissions from your company's facilities. Don't just
talk about HSE and then doing nothing about these emissions for many,
many years. IN HSE the H stands for Health. What about the health of
the Seria community. You are taking advantage of us because we have no
environmental groups like Green Peace to stop you. You are really a
selfish wicked corporation. The District Office, Ketua Kampongs in the
area, the Ministry of Health and our beloved His Majesty at the Prime
Ministers Office better intervene to do something on this. Otherwise
nothing changes for years. There'll be only talk in Shell and then no
action for years! For a Healthy Living

I WILL ALWAYS LOVE U: To the one I love,
Even though it has been many years now, I still have not forgotten
you.
Thinking back ¡n 1999 when I made the decision. You must be very
disappointed with me. But I must tell you that was the decision I
regretted most in my life.
I didn’t explain much at that time and you might have a lot of
misunderstanding about me. But I can tell you my love and feelings for
you were true. I just didn’t know how to start and how to put my
words. We belong to two different worlds. For a long time, I had tried
to face our differences but in the end I failed. I just hope you would
understand my difficulties. Mungkin kitani nada jodoh. Kitani mampu
merancang, Tuhan yang menentukan.
And now I am married and have my own family. I have to leave
everything behind and look ahead in life. Life has to go on. Let
bygone be bygone. With me I take along our sweet memories to be
cherished forever.
I pray that someday you will find a nice man, who will make you happy.
Here I want to dedicate these song lyrics to you:
If I
Should stay
I would only be in your way
So I'll go
But I know
I'll think of you every step of
the way
And I...
Will always
Love you, oohh
Will always
Love you
You
My darling you
Mmm-mm
Bittersweet
Memories
That is all I'm taking with me
So goodbye
Please don't cry
We both know I'm not what
You need
And I...
Will always love you
I...
Will always love you
You, ooh
I hope
life treats you kind
And I hope
you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish you joy
and happiness
But above all this
I wish you love
And I...
Will always love you Better not say 25.10.2003 |

mihir kali ah......: I am one of the
youngest bright freshmen at UBD. The thing which bugs me is this
disgusting maktab ugama classmate of mine...and looks like he's gay.
Funny seeing gay men teaching religious subjects but their practical
social life is nothing more than being sexually attracted to their own
gender! And to think they are the best role models to local ugama
students? Someone calls the antigay squad. A friend of mine told me an
'AlAzhar' graduate just dated one of their siblings, being in the same
room overnight (not even married). And this 'AlAzhar' graduate is
teaching at the local Arabic secondary school.
Not to mention his NO sense of pride being a religious person. But
practically opposing Islamic teaching. Disgusting isn't it..?, wearing
cara melayu and disguising to be 'Alim'. But what people do not know
is there's a hidden RAPIST there. Go to jail you no good religious
Fraud and SHAME and to hell with your life. Speaker

Initial D - My reply: Initial D, it's
quite interesting to read your attitudes to life especially your own.
I myself like to "race" on street before but now, you can say I've
quit. There is no safe place to do drifting or heel and toe except
probably 100 miles away in the middle of the jungle where there is no
one around. There is an old saying, setinggi-tinggi tupai melompat,
pandai jatuh jua. Another good example, even formula 1 driver do get
accident, the only different the races are done in enclosed circuit,
not on street. Yes, it is true life is short and not for you to take
your own life except the Almighty. If you like to live at the edge,
that's your choice but make sure you don't drag others because of your
ignorance. And most important of all, if you end up in accident due to
your so-called amateur drifting or heel/toe driving, I pray no
innocent people get involved. There is a reason why ALARP was designed
in the first place. To have a low risk, drive safely meaning not to
race on street where there are other road users. Reasonable
Practicality means at acceptable speed in which car is in good shape (bukan
larak melarak potong spring). Overall, I do support car race
regardless if it's drift or drag racing. What one requires is proper
circuit. Maybe one day, Brunei will have an establish circuit (less of
golf course) and promote young amateurs (like you) to professional
race driver and compete at high level. Good luck to you. Zuki

let me know here. When I started into cars I did street race. But I
realise how dangerous it is. But then I started into drag race which
is more fun for me because I do the engine and car set up myself. So

Greedy labuan importer : I agree with
Yakult Cheah. Sometimes in this greedy company the salary and
commission are not paid on time. How to survive, lor? How to feed the
family? terok, man working for these people. If the Labuan importer
was doing business there, he won't be so rich. He is lucky to be
allowed to do business in Brunei like most Malaysians. Good life. Good
house. No tax. Children can get the best education. Can study in
English medium. Not like in Malaysia where all the subjects will be in
Malay and have to struggle to pass Malay to be promoted. Here if you
don’t pass in Malay, boleh juga promoted in the non-Government school.
Not passing Malay at O Level still you can go to Curtin Miri to study.
So why struggle in Malaysia with studies in Bahasa when you can do in
English in Brunei? Because of the education system here whose standard
and quality is better than Malaysia more and more Malaysians will come
to work and open business here. Educated

Concorde : I track down the incoming
aircraft carefully. And I will not hesitate to go to the airport to
see any new aircraft type landing in Brunei. I can tell you for sure
the Concorde was not here. If Concorde landed in Brunei it would be
such a significant event that it would have been featured on RTB and
Borneo Bulletin. In 1983, the late and great beloved Seri Begawan was
still alive. He was very careful with his money. He wouldn't have
allowed any member of the Royal family to charter the Concorde just
like that. To spend or waste money lavishly. During the Begawan's time
he only allowed the Royal Flight to have HS748, which is a very basic
propeller-driven aeroplane. Not very stylish. Not very fast and not
very comfortable. But that was enough. He was very careful and thrifty
with his money. Only when he died we have lavish spending on other
state-of-the-art aircraft. This cannot be blamed because Brunei is now
an independent country. Our beloved His Majesty since independence
must have a good class of aircraft compared to and on the same level
as other world leaders. This he has. He takes a keen interest in
aviation and has nothing but the best in the Royal Flight now. As
deserving to him as a rich monarch and His Majesty (as opposed to His
Highness before independence). He is a good guy so he deserves the
best now. When he lands in a foreign capital in a high class aircraft,
Brunei's reputation will be high. Royal Flight watcher

Irresponsible driver : I really pity the
driver who was flung out of her car in order to avoid hitting the
black Pajero from the back. In fact, this also happened to me few
weeks ago.
In order to avoid hitting this 'Prale' car from behind, I swerved my
car and hit the road rail. My car was damaged and I could not claim
my insurance. Luckily, I was wearing a seat belt and escaped injuries.
I think the Land transport ought to implement very strict policy for
foreigners driving in Brunei. All foreigners ought to take a driving
exam to determine their competence to drive in Brunei. I have seen a
lot of foreigners getting a licence first in Brunei, then learn to
drive later.
I am not blaming all foreigners. But I think they should be tested the
same way as the locals. Cyindy

Allowances for students? : I just want to
say that the government has got the system of trying to encourage
people to study all wrong. You are giving allowances to students
hoping they would continue to further their studies after high school
but on the other hand, if you want to work in BSP and government, u do
not need to compete with PR even if they are better qualified. Don't
you people see that this system will never work? What you are doing is
spoiling the people by being too nice to your own citizens. Just look
at a typical family... if the parents give everything to whatever
their kids want, they become spoilt. Same thing applies here. If you
want the people's education level to improve, you gotta make them
realize that studying is the only way out... let the society compete
against jobs... only then will they be motivated enough to want to
study. Skeptical 25.10.2003 |

Chili : I am delighted to report to all
users and visitors of this forum that the constant bashing on news
institutions in the country has finally paid off!!! As an individual,
they had ignored us but collectively, they had no choice but to sit up
and listen to what we have to say. Take for instance one of the
articles in today's Borneo Bulletin. It states that the next APEC
meeting will be held in Chilli. This, my friends, is breaking news!
All this while I had thought that the next APEC meeting will be held
in Chile. Actually, I was rather bewildered with where Chilli is
located. I checked the Atlas but alas, could not find it. So
congratulations to the reporter of the article for giving us the
inside scoop that Chilli will host the next APEC. May I be so bold as
to make a suggestion? Perhaps your next article could be on 'Where
Chilli Is'. Once again, a great job which will no doubt boost the
level of credibility of your paper even further. Mr. Finder

Counterfeit Imam:
It is perplexing that the case against the Imam who was found in
possession of large quantities of Brunei counterfeit currency has
been withdrawn. This could mean that:-
1) The Police has insufficient evidence against the Imam; or
2) The Religious Ministry wants to cover up this case as it is an
embarrassment to them.
This is not the first time that the Religious Ministry has been
the focus of attention. Previously the Minister and several of its
staffs were being sued by Aw. Zainuddin Dato Marsal. I believe
this matter has yet to be resolved. Other than this I know for a
fact that there is some corruption going on amongst the Religious
CID. I know of a married man living with somebody's wife and this
fact is known to certain Religious CID but because this married
man bribed the CID with money no action was taken against him.
Brunei prides itself as a strong Muslim country and adopts MIB as
its philosophy in guiding its people to be truly Brunei Muslim.
The events I have mentioned have tarnished the image of Brunei in
general and the Ministry in particular and their integrity is now
in jeopardy unless they start putting their house in order. There
is no point in arresting couple committing Khalwat when their
staffs are no better than the people they are arresting. I hope
this serves as a wake
up call for the Religious Ministry and it would weed out those
that will bring disrepute to this country. The Ministry should
portray itself as God fearing and law abiding people before it
embarks on exposing other people's supposedly delinquent behaviour.

New Baram Bridge: I fully agree with
Ichinei Abdul Aziz. The reason even the Bruneians go there is for
the alcohol, liquor, cheap food, massage, etc. Brunei is stupid.
All this MEN IN BLACK rubbish destroys our tourism industry. We
should have liquor. Then half the revenue will come back to us.
The big bumiputera royal companies like Qxx, Jxxxx can be given
the licenses to import the liquor wholesale. And they can be asked
to control the amount imported. A senior man used to say that it
is very right about this point of view all along. From the
reliable sources from one of my retired customs officer friends,
the government was earned millions of dollars in customs duty
before. Not everyone abuse the alcohol to get drunk. Most drink to
enjoy their meal, socialize, etc. Even some Muslims also drink red
wine occasionally as they believe can prevent certain cancer and
heart diseases, etc. Even Bruneians are drinking abroad so why
can't they drink home? Follow Singapore even though alcohol is
available still the penalties are heavy for alcohol related
offences, like drunk driving, etc. If you stick to Men In Black
and use this to outlaw liquor the country will remain backward,
one of my Muslim friends tell me that in historical times even the
Islamic religious people used to drink alcohol as mentioned
earlier possibly for the above reason. Wise old man

Brunei Hospital: Reply to "Patient". Ok let me tell u here,

InitialD: Yes, I am in full support for
street racing here. We can do it when the streets are quiet and
peaceful. In major cities all around the world, people do street
racing and it is part of life. Drag racing is more for unskilled
people who can afford better cars and higher modifications. I've seen
many good cars around in BSB but haven't seen many good racers who can
do proper drifting nor the basic heel and toe. We should do street
racing more often, with proper cornering, slopes and more
participants. Do we have any forum for racers to share
experience/knowledge here? About safety, who cares about others? Life
is so short and by the time you realize you've been missing a lot,
it'll be too late. When others don't care, why would we want to care?
DST sucks, RBA sucks, JTB sucks, Schools such, hospitals such, SITI-KL
sucks, and basically everyone is not satisfied with the whole country.
What the heck. Why complain so much? Live your life to its fullest.
Ignorance is bliss, so don't compare and start racing! C'est La Vie!
Racing is part of life, just like shopping, gardening, hiking,
footballing, basketball, you name it they do it! Just that people have
different interests and for us street racers, it just seems to others
we are unsafe. What about gardening? Gardening, you may chop off your
legs, your son's head. Shopping? You may induce thefts, envy.
Footballing, you may kick someone's head off. So, every sport there is
some risk! Racing is a sport too! We just have to do it properly.
Training! Practice makes perfect. We cannot shut down everything
because there are certain risks involved. We have to assess our risk
as low as reasonably practical (ALARP). Then you decide whether you
want to go ahead. So forget about safety and start your engines! BTW,
anyone has initial D stage 1, 2, extra and 3? Contact me!

I didn't claim that I'm free from sins and whatever. Really... the

have heard all those stories but have you ever heard also that if one
Muslim sees his/her brothers and sister deviates so far, that we have
the right to tagur them. I was not condemning her. I have no right to.
Do you want her to rasa azab siksa or if ditaguri awal she may

the good side for her for other reasons. If you're really a friend to
her, you should, you MUST AND HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY kan menagur ia.
Or are you just a friend time sanang saja? Insyaallah, maybe if ia

feel. Have you ever thought of that?? Inda pernah I heard claims yang
a family would be really happy if something like that keeps nagging at
the back of their minds. Tolonglah, you really sayang your friend?
Help her then... Remember, I’m not judging her at all, even SUAMI yang

that, who knows what concepts have been brainwashed in her mind. So
think bedore you want to lecture me. I’d rather see you being a good

Concorde in Brunei: Thanks to those who
responded. But I’m still pretty sure the Concorde was what I saw
parked on the tarmac. 1983 was probably because it was still the old
airport. I’m a plane enthusiast too, and I do know the difference
between Red Arrows or Boeing and Concorde (Concorde's the only
carrier with THAT nose, plus there was a lot of hype about it going
around then that the Royal Family had chartered it). I was at the
airport to send my brother off to London, and I did recall him saying
something about the royal family using it (they were the richest and
probably the most famous back then). It was 'this' close to the
terminal. I could see the plane clearly. I’m adamant it was the
Concorde! As for the sonic boom, it doesn’t only happen when it is
mid-flight and breaks Mak1 or Mak2, and not during takeoff or landing?
I live in London near Heathrow (Concorde's home) and it doesn’t make
that much more noise than any other Boeings or airbus superplanes.

Bruneian Attitude Towards Amah!? I agree
with Tarantula regarding amah problems. But I disagree if he or she
blames it on the Muslims in Brunei. I think it’s not the religion that
should be blamed but the employers or majikans who, we should point
our finger to on these heartless employers. Nowadays, a lot of amah
problems arise like salary not being paid, abuse, sexual harassment
etc, etc. This kind of problems could jeopardize the image of a
peaceful country like Brunei. I suggest that the employers should
understand first why they need an amah for? They should treat the
amahs like their own family. Not just as a domestic helper nor a
foreigner but as a family or a relative and could also be your best
friend. And I know sometimes it's hard to train an amah to do the
chores. It needs a whole lot of patients. But, hey, look at the bright
side you have good deeds and you get to know each other very well.

driving licence in UK: Yes, all non-UK
driving licences (not just Brunei, includes US, Australia, etc) are
only valid for the first 12 months in the country. After this time,

simple: if you cause an accident it is very hard for the police to

Awang Bujang senang: Awang Bujang Senang,
you are spotted on! What is the point of all these government
officials attending various seminars, signing meaningless 'memorandums
of understanding' etc etc. It just seems like an opportunity for civil
servants to enjoy travelling first class and getting allowances,
shopping and so on. Oh please, is it really necessary so many people
to attend? They should just stay in Brunei and get their respective
departments in order! It just seems as if everyone in Brunei is in a
coma. Wake up!! We are being left behind among our SE Asian neighbours.
Just look at how far Vietnam has come. No need to even mention
Malaysia or Singapore. We need to take real steps towards development
and stop wasting all our resources. littlevoice

Momo: Yes, you are right. I'm still an
amateur racer la. Although I have won most of the times when it comes
to street racing, but still looks like I have a lot of rooms for
improvement. Skills are there but knowledge is still green. You train
drivers? Maybe driving skills, I can show you a little. Heel and toe,
drifting all those I mastered when I was 17. So right now, I am
expecting more advanced lessons from anyone out there who's willing to
share. Maybe, we can create forum for racing enthusiasts like me, hor?
The nitrous you provide? I just installed my baby a blow out valve and
Hks Carbon-Ti exhaust pipe. What do you think? Any comments? I don't
feel any extra thrust though, apart from noise pollution. But what the
heck, cool ma. Girls like it! Also, I just changed the momo quick

Bruneians’ Attitude Towards Amah Twinkle
Star, I guess you are right. 'BRUNEIAN ATTITUDE TOWARDS AMAH" has
nothing to do with religion. That's why THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND to apply
it as a Moslem, as a human being. What is the used of Ceramah in
every mosque? Sekolah-Sekolah Ugama?? I guess the Majikan is old
enough to understand from their experience. Maybe they are just
waiting to be buried. IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY AMAH SALARY, DON'T
TAKE ANY AMAH!!! AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEIR JOB, PAY THEIR SALARY,
BUY A TICKET AND SEND HER TO THE AIRPORT. Tarantula

Understanding Little Daisy: Hai LD, you
are one of the most understanding wives in this earth. I hope that
your husband really looks after you very well, giving you enough money
to spend, a good house/bungalow not a shack, a car and all paid-up (no
more loan) and good food to eat. I hope that he will stop going
around in the future. But if it's you who looks after him and feeds
him, better kicks him out of your life. I know that some men are
crossing the border to enjoy but having not enough money to feed their
families. This is not acceptable and should stop before it becomes a
national problem. Give priority looking after the wife/wives and
children and not spending those needed monies by the families on
karaoke and dangdut. Can see a few Malay towkeys enjoying life with
young girls. Some friends told me that the person has no money to pay
their workers. What a shame!!!! Lelaki Brunei

Why we go shopping Miri, KK?: Well, we go
out shopping outside Brunei because we have the money to do so. We do
not spend on clothing or dresses. We can always get equally cheap good
quality garments in Brunei. During weekend or school holidays, it's
like an adventure going on new places with our 4WD, test the
durability of our loved machines. Besides, you can enjoy the beauty
and scenery of a neighbouring land. Having to spend 50 per cent less
on a 5-star hotel in Miri or KK compared to Brunei is worth the
vacation plus the entertainment and relaxation they have to offer. A
family outing on a fast food restaurant in a neighbouring land may
cost double of that in Brunei. It's not that we want to shop for
groceries or stuff like that. It's just shopping while leisuring along
the way. Where can you find exotic food + night life + pleasure all
along the way? It's just next to your doorstep. Happy travelling

Brunei Hospital: Reply to "Patient". Ok
let me tell you here that "SOME" Hospitals in Brunei suck, really
suck! I don’t think all doctors in Brunei are qualified especially
some "Ixxxx" as they only come here to work by producing the fake
certificates. That’s why I don’t know how come Brunei Government can
take all those kinds of people. Well, let them try to work in UK.
Hhmmm I guess their work at tepi jalan. I got an experience in which
my friend got an eye problem. She went to the KB Hospital but then the
doctor only said, "excuse me miss, you work in the office, right?? and
you face the computer always..so maybe your eyes are too tired....ok I
will give you some medicines, go eat and take rest, must finish the
medicine ok". But after two weeks, still here was no cure. Then she
went back again to the same hospital and told them what happened as
nothing changed. So the doctor gave another type of medicine. Wahhhh
this kind of doctor ah never did check properly. He’s really a s..t
and this kind of doctor sucks, only tahu makan gaji je. As my friend
could not tahan she decided to go to Singapore for a check-up. God
bless her, if she came a bit late by one day, she would get blind. You
know inside her eye got something which could cause her blindness. I
don’t know what they called it. So she was admitted in the Singapore
hospital for a week to take those little tiny things out from her eye.
See how some doctors in Brunei SUCK. Watch out, not only SUCK, but
really damn slow services! DD 24.10.2003 |

IRRESPONSIBLE DRIVER!: A dear friend of
mine got into a car accident last Sunday. She was on her way back from
Bandar to KB when suddenly a BLACK PAJERO did a U turn at a point
where U turns are not allowed. As fast as the lightning speed the
driver ignored the sign, seeing this friend of mine in her car driving
happily alone. She was shocked and panicked to see the BLACK PAJERO in
which she was left with no choice but to step on the brake pedal,
saving herself from hitting the BLACK PAJERO from behind. That was
when she skidded over the road, overturned and flung to the side near
a jungle. She was conscious, realising that she just got herself into
an accident. A man came to help her out. She was not in the damaged
car but on the ground. Obviously, she was thrown out of the car, lying
in pain with bruises and cuts here and there. Luckily, she survived
wondering how, why, lots of WHAT and IFS questions came to her mind.
The man, who helped her out was the man who drove a white KIJANG, not
the person who was in the BLACK PAJERO car. The person who caused the
accident was NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. Luckily with ALLAH's bless and care,
she survived. FOR YOU WHO DROVE THE BLACK PAJERO, MAY ALLAH BLESS YOU
AND YOUR FAMILY......AMIN.... SurvivoR389

Local Beauties and Foreign Ladies: May be
some HYS readers missed this remark made by ChickyChicky. Try and read
the full context on HYS 21/10/2003
Sorry chickychicky I added up few things just to make things a bit
clear.
Quote
To all those local men
Please put this in your thick heads.
Local ladies and foreign ladies. They are all the same. They have that
special thing that men dare to fight for or die for.( Remember the
story of Cleopatra and Helen of Troy?). Don't forget there are some
good, some better and a lot are best. Both in bed and mind and soul.
Compare to all the women in this world, only few hundreds are the
unfortunate ones who have become what they are now. Doing the OLDEST
trading men ever invented. Basically, from the day they were born they
are innocent, tender, loving until some selfish S.O.B came to destroy
their lives with lies and false promises. Later on in life people call
them whores. These so called WHORES you called them, they don’t want
to do those kind of work or profession. BUT fate is against them.
Women are human too no matter where they come from. (I have not seen a
woman from MARS yet). Men must not treat them like dirt or any other
except a partner, a wife, a friend and a mother. To me, women are my
friends, my partner, my sister, my auntie, my other half, my mother
and my grandma. I have no right to call them WHORE, PROSTITUTE or any
other names. (Jokingly) Men! if all women unite and close their "ANGPOW"
you will have a big headache. Then you know lah... cari sapi, kerbau
and unta. Don't forget Big Head pains you get Panadol! Small Head
pains you know lah no UBAT. Chickychicky 21.10.2003
Unquote.
Please respect our women folk. Be they from other countries working in
Brunei, especially our Brunei Ladies. I have been in and out of the
country regularly. When I see the Brunei Girls they are more serene,
innocent, cute and attractive. Once and for all give them RESPECT. If
we Bruneians don’t see the beautiful inner self (Don’t be dirty-minded
now) of our young ladies then I think something is wrong in your
calculation of how to value our own kind. IF YOU ALL LOCAL MEN DON’T
SEE YOUR MOTHER WOULD DO SOMETHING STUPID THEN THE REST OF OUR LOCAL
LADIES WILL NOT DO ALSO. Teddy Bear 24.10.2003 |

Joke For Today:
This is your morning news.
Three men, a philosopher, a mathematician and an idiot, were
out riding in a car when it crashed into a tree. Before anyone knew,
the three men found themselves standing before the Pearly Gates of
Heaven, where St. Peter and the Devil were standing nearby.
"Gentlemen," the Devil started, "due to the fact that
Heaven is now overcrowded, St Peter has agreed to limit the number of people
entering Heaven. If anyone of you can ask me a question which I don't
know or cannot answer, then you're worthy enough to go to Heaven; if
not, then you'll come with me to Hell."
The philosopher then stepped up and said, "OK, give me the most
comprehensive report on Socrates' teachings". With a snap of his
finger, a stack of paper appeared next to the Devil.
The philosopher read it and concluded it was correct. "Then, go to
Hell!" With another snap of his finger, the philosopher
disappeared.
The mathematician then asked, "Give me the most complicated formula
you can ever think of!" With a snap of his finger, another stack of
paper appeared.
The mathematician read it and reluctantly agreed it was correct.
"Then, go to Hell!"
With another snap of his finger, the mathematician
disappeared too.
The idiot then stepped forward and said, "Bring me a chair!" The
Devil brought forward a chair. "Drill 7 holes on the seat." The Devil
did just that. The idiot then sat on the chair and let out a very loud
fart.
Standing up, he asked, "Which hole did my fart come out
from?" The Devil inspected the seat and said, "The third hole from the
right." "Wrong," said the idiot, "it's from my ashhole." The idiot
went to Heaven. |six| 23.10.2003 |

International Meetings For What Purpose? :
Lately, we see Brunei getting involved actively in the international
arena by attending or hosting a lot of international meetings and
seminars abroad or hosting them in Brunei. To me, it is just a waste
of time and money for us to do so. All these international bodies or
agencies want from us is to contribute more and more funds and
money. The money spent on these seminars are better spent here within
Brunei to further enhance or develop the various departments and
services within Brunei for the people of Brunei. There is no point in
sending more ministers and officers abroad or to host more meetings
here as our country is still under developed if compared to the other
ASEAN or APEC countries. There is no need to talk or compare other
countries' development as we know that we are still very far behind.
It is better to seclude ourselves like Burma and just concentrate in
developing our country. During every meeting, I am fed up in seeing
our ministers or officials signing more and more contracts or
agreements with foreign nations or companies just to make it look good
like what the Malaysians are doing. No need to act too much and hide
behind all these papers. Let’s face the truth and show to the people
of Brunei where we stand. We do not even have a proper industry yet
apart from making tee-shirts or breeding Mexico prawns which really
taste horrible. We have not even started to assemble bicycles or mass
produce sampans! We start to see Sabli canned curry beef and chicken
in the supermarkets but even these are canned in Malaysia, only the
labels are stuck here. No need to talk about IT or e-government, it
simply does not exist here. I have still to pay by cash to pay my
water bills as they do not yet have the facility to pay by credit
cards. Let us look around the country and see how backward Brunei
is. Just look at Bandar Seri Begawan, I think Balik Papan town in
Kalimantan would be more advance than us. By about 7 pm it is already
a dead town. If not for Hua Ho Department Store in Yayasan, BSB would
be dead. What more of Kuala Belait and Seria, it is worse. Awang

Foreign Tastes Good – Reject : Dear Ladies
& Gentleman. First of all, I like to remind every writer & reader
regarding the subject Foreign Tastes Good. The foreigners in Brunei
are NOT the things that you eat every day. They all are human being.
The local men or women married to the foreigners are not that you
taste. This is the fact that you either married a foreign or local. If
you say that the taste of foreign is good that means you as a man you
have fooled around with foreign women. If you are a woman that means
you have also fooled around with foreign men. For all men, please
don’t take foreign women like a piece of cake that you like to taste.
You will suffer if you fool around with girls. It is a sin. Local and
foreign women are all the same. You will regret one day after you have
married. Either your wife or daughter will be fooled by someone. Treat
them like your brothers & sisters. I am please to advice you that
don’t bring up this subject anymore in this HAVE YOUR SAY. Before I
stop, I like to say thank you very much to all readers and writers in

Bruneian Attitude towards Amah :
Tarantula, you don’t have to prove your points regarding how Bruneian
treat their amahs with the word 'Moslem'. It has nothing to do with
religion. It is the human nature of that person that differentiates a
human being with that of an animal. Singapore is not a Moslem
country but still there are cases of amah being abused by the
employers who are Buddhists, Christians or whatever religion they
have. Some of the court cases in Singapore not only involve unpaid
salaries but also involve amahs being tortured to DEATH. So if you
want to prove your points about the mistreatment of amah, don’t
involve religion. Twinkle Star 23.10.2003 |

Malaysian 'Tooth King' Eats Up Brunei. :
Dr. Mahathir is certainly a very cunning guy. He purposely invited
our HM the Sultan to be the guest of honour at the 'World Record'
event in KL where a certain V. Rathakrishanan performed a world record
breaking feat by pulling 6 train coaches weighing 260.8 tonnes for a
distance of 4.2 metres using only his teeth and jaws. Having achieved
a new world record, he is now suggesting to His Majesty that he
intends to perform another feat in Brunei by trying to stop a
helicopter from taking off from the ground as well as demonstrating
other skills. This Malaysian 'Tooth King' certainly wants to 'eat up'
Brunei by the look of it. I wonder why does this Malaysian has to
perform his feat in Brunei. This is certainly a plot by Dr. Mahathir
to focus the world on Brunei again and to make it look as though we
are a part of Malaysia. This man will probably get the best of
treatment and the whole trip and performance being paid for not
forgetting first class air fares and hotels for him and all his
supporting team members and the helicopter provided at no cost by our
Royal Brunei Air Force. However, he should get his calculations
right. I presume in doing this feat he would have his feet or lower
body secured by some means to the ground and his teeth and jaws to the
helicopter under slung hook. A helicopter is a very strong machine
and could easily sever his body in two. I wish him good luck. Hurundi

Smart Looking Indian Navy Officers. : I am
very impressed when I saw the well dressed and smart looking Indian
Navy Officers doing their sight seeing and shopping around BSB today.
These young Sea Cadets and Sailors looked highly disciplined and
motivated which certainly gave a good name to their unit and country.
I feel that our Brunei Navy have a lot to learn from these highly
motivated young men, not only in the way they dress and carry
themselves but I am sure in their training and tactical capabilities.
The Indian Navy is one of the oldest and strongest Naval Force in Asia
with a very large fleet, which includes aircraft carriers. Its area
of responsibility covers a vast area from the Gulf Of Kutch bordering
Pakistan in the western part of India through the Arabian Sea, the
Indian Ocean which covers south right up to the Antarctica, the Bay of
Bengal and to the Andaman Sea which covers the Andaman and Nicobar
Islands bordering Thailand and Indonesia in the eastern extreme of
India. India with its population of second largest in the world and
becoming a country with a Nuclear Power capability is certainly worth
to be reckoned with. Hurundi V. Bakshi

new Baram bridge : Reliable statistics
agencies show that in September 2003 alone 180,000 Brunei people
crossed the new Baram bridge to Miri. If each person spent $100.00
while there B$16 million leaked out of the Brunei economy. This money
could have been spent in Brunei. Even though in Brunei the Grand Sale
is going on, the shops are very quiet. Everyone is still heading for
Miri, Labuan, Limbang, Kota Kinabalu. I frequently travel to these
areas on business trips and I find the qualities and prices of the
goods are almost the same as here. So I don't see why people waste
their time and money to shop across the border. One of my Kota
Kinabalu colleagues who frequently travels to Brunei prefers to buy
products in Brunei which he comments has higher quality. Others from
Miri prefer to buy seafood from the Brunei supermarkets which are
fresher.
All the government agencies must get together urgently to solve this
problem. Otherwise, many more local businesses will decline towards
bankruptcy. Hj ichinei abdul aziz 23.10.2003 |

banned from coming to Brunei without reason:
: Hello to all readers. I am writing in to find out why my friend is
banned from coming to Brunei without any reason at all. He has been in
Brunei for almost nine years and made Brunei as his home. He has also
written songs for the SEA games in Brunei. He is honest, loyal and
friendly and has helped lots of people here. Six months ago, he was
told by the director of Immigration that he could no longer come to
Brunei. He asked what was the reason and nothing was told to him. They
said that they, too, didn’t know the reason for the ban. I really
believe that my friend is innocent and honest. He really wants to come
back to Brunei and has done everything he can to come back. He has a
family here, and his home is still here in Brunei but left empty. I
am sure some of the readers here know who I am referring to. Do you
think it’s fair for someone like him to be banned from Brunei. I
believe he has the right to know why he is banned from coming to
Brunei. Can the director of Immigration, please let us know why? I
believe that everybody has the right to prove (his or her)
innocence. Why didn’t the Immigration Department let him know. And so
he could also prove his innocence. To the readers who know my
British-born friend, please tell me what you think of him. Does he
deserve all this treatment? All he wants is to come back to Brunei
and see his family and friends. He never did anything wrong. He has
even written countless of letters to relevant departments to clear the
air. Isn’t there any law in this country which protects the innocent?
thank you.. Huangyiling

Not Ash-hole it is rectum-to CORRECT ME :
Hi correct me! Walang problema! You call it rectum. I call it
A??-Hole. It makes no difference. Some say Bengali. Some say Punjabi.
Some say ayam. Some say chicken! No big issue as long as you
understand. My spelling was not Ash Hole. If you translate it to
Malay macam sound like "Lubang Abu" tia. After being edited by HYS
my spelling atu. Kacau HYS Editor ani spoil the fun lah. But never
mind lah. As long as I don’t say "Lubang J..". He....He....I like your

Reply to Venus on Lil Daisy: Hi Venus go
to your prayer lah. Try to recite your own doa so that you don’t go to
hell at the end of the day. Don’t try to be holy. Cermin muka dulu
lah. How many good things have you been doing so far in life. Compare
to the gossip you do to others, like your in-laws, your close friends
etc. Don’t be a bloody hypocrite. Your advice is not required. Your
own misinterpretation on how other people are leading their life will
be the one that will destroy and tertempalak to you. So mind your own
business. You ask forgiveness for your own life. That is all that
matters. Little Daisy was only relating her own experience. She sees
it as fitting to her life and family. So be it. You want to destroy
other people’s happiness just because of your belief that you lead a
holy life. Belum tau lah who goes to heaven and who goes to hell.
Remember the story about one bad Muslim who gave water to a dying and
thirsty dog? Need I to continue? Remember the Iman with the wang palsu.

poem for you all out there:
Sex is a sensation
caused by temptation
when a guy sticks his destination
into a girl communication
it increases the population of the
young generation
poker is a gamble
sex is a game
guys do the fu*****
girls get the pain
do you understand my conversation
or do you need a demonstration
1 night of pleasure
9 months of pain
3 days in the hospital

Brunet & JTB : Does anyone know if JTB
or Brunet sells our email addresses to other websites? I have been
receiving weird and wonderful (not!!!) emails addressed to my
brunet account for some time now. Not just jokes or 'funnies' but
disgusting ones. Everything from 'view my personal website' to
'free enlargement of this and that'. Hotmail used to do that, but
at least with Hotmail, you can block it, not with brunet . Of
course, you can 'unsubscribe' but often when you click on to
'remove', another website appears telling you 'this particular
page is not available. Please tell me if this is happening to all
you out there too.
Perhaps Brunet/JTB should receive 'Free Enlargement of the Brains'
email. That way, they can then find ways to help their customers
and not kill them alive. Way to go sole provider of
telecommunication...or are you not ? Liz 22.10.2003 |

On2Y - brunet... sigh : 24.95 is for
unlimited access, and you get 50 free local calls every month.
broadband at 256/64 speed is 70 bucks, unlimited access, and still
get 50 phone calls every month. Optus, Primus, TPG, Telstra etc...
all offer similar deals. But hold on, is it because Brunei has
small population that telecommunication is held by a monopoly
which controls everything? Don’t pay, don’t get, service crap is
consumer's problem? Now that's the real sad case. JTB... Just Tak

Reply to Awg.Bisan bin Nasib :
Well.... yes I know about the rukun Islam and Iman. But the thing
is I want them to know more about Islam.. Yes I finished ugama. I
mean until darjah 6. Well I’m not really good in Ugama. I got
grade 2. Should I teach my siblings with that grade? Maybe yeah.
And also I don’t have time to teach.. Well I do have time but it’s
just... mm.. you know what I mean. Every time durang mengaji. I
got work to do. And when I’m free, they got work to do. Ughhh...well..
sometimes I talk about them if you do this it will be dosa. I hope
they will keep that in mind. I know I’m not alim. I don’t even
wear tudong but I just don’t want them to be really influence by
the outsiders. This is our 1st time to stay outside Brunei. And
staying here for about 3 yrs, my siblings yg basar sikit ...
haven’t finished Ugama. My Dad and Mum are not that alim either
but they advise us a lot though. Don’t you think my siblings need
to more about Ugama? Mesti kan?....I’m just concern with my
siblings. Don’t want them lost like me.p(^_^)q Piero_X

Skill Competition : Replying to
unsatisfied competitors and viewers to national skill competition.
After reading all your comments I do agree you have the right to
comment about the competition. I think it is not fair blaming all
the faults to the organiser. My questions: are the competitors
from SVNR and MTTSR competent enough with their skills compared
with MKJB?????? Whose fault was that if the students who were
complaining were not able to finish their wiring???? Is it the
SVNR and MTTSR instructors? Or is the DTE itself not doing the
job??????? Or may be there were no initiatives to train their own
students until the last minute!!!! Or those students are forced to
join the competition????????? To be fair, I suggest SVNR or MTTSR
will organise the next wiring skill competition. Then we can judge
from there?????????? Technician 22.10.2003 |

Doctor in KB hospital : Please help
me. How do I get my view taken seriously from the Kuala Belait
hospital because an incident has happened to me with one doctor
namely Dr IQ. I want to know whether he had done something wrong
or not because I’m not really good in medical terms but he need
not be rude to patient. He was being obnoxious. He does not seem
to be into his job. What I mean is he seems not interested in his
work. He seems less caring to patients. One incident he diagnosed
a child having a cough, running nose, fever and didn’t seem to
have an appetite to eat and vomited all the food the child had
eaten. From simple-minded people it would look as if the child was
dehydrated but he only gave the child PARACETAMOL & ACTICFID with
rude, sarcastic and foolish remarks coming with it. God! what kind
of a doctor is he? Another was to a young patient with abdominal
pain, he said in same tone of voice you have a boyfriend kah.
Maybe you got infection while doing it. God he was really lame. He
said it in front of the mother of the child. Next there was the
incident where a patient was brought in because of an accident.
Did you know what he said? He said to the patient with sore, cut
and bruises (which you can obviously see) "DO YOU WANT TO BE
ADMITTED?" It sounded silly coming from this doctor as he knew the
patient was in pain. You need not ask that sort of question. You
use your own judgment. The patient trusted him that was what he
was there for but no. He said it was the hospital procedure. Many
things had happened that need to be said about this doctor. I
really need to know that the hospitals here are safe for the
people and are friendly zone. Thank you Patient

Concorde in Brunei: If my memory serves me
right, a Concorde came to Brunei in 1983 for a brief refueling transit
during their world tour then. But, Brunei airport was not designed
to sustain supersonic aircraft (i.e. sonic boom), and I was told that
most of the glass panels at the airport shattered into pieces. I
didn't actually see the plane physically though. Every nights after
that for 2 weeks, I walked from the old Science School hostel to the
airport hoping to see it again. I spent hours & hours at the waving
gallery (open air back then) doing my homework’s & praying to see a
glimpse of the supersonic bird doing run & break over the runway, but
to no avail. It took me a while to erase my pursuit to see the said
aero plane. My pursuit was so relentless, and 20 years later this
year, I was privileged to hitch a ride on the 2nd last/final flight of
the Concorde from the Big Apple to London before they are being
decommissioned. The feeling was unimaginable; it's just like
walking in the cloud, only faster! Somehow, my dream over the years
of touching the Concorde had made me one of the best plane drivers
ever to walk on the surface of the planet P/S: Don't rely on BB; they
often miss out one in a life time occasions. Maverick - another

License not approved: In reply to the
student in Britain who complained that our Brunei driving licenses
were not acceptable in the UK, please take out your wallet and have a
look at your license. Do you expect some one to believe in a piece of
hand written paper and allowed you to drive? Our license doesn't even
state our date of birth as the age regulation for one to drive is
different in some country. A driving license is supposed to be a form
of ID. Take for instance, in Australia; you don't need an IC because a
driving license will do the job. So instead of complaining that they
do not recognize our license, you should give some constructive
suggestions to the Land Transport Department to improve our driving
license.
My suggestions is that we dun need a smart card for our driving
license like our IC, but at least include a photo, date of birth on
the typed laminated license.
P/S: I also noted that our IC does not have an English translation so
it won’t make a proof of identity in places like Australia. Hong

Malaysian Ustaz, Member PAS Perlis. : I am
very sorry to read in the Borneo Bulletin published 20th Oct 2003 that
the Ministry of Education will be employing a Malaysian, who is
currently a Deputy Commissioner of PAS Party in Perlis, Malaysia to be
given a contract to help organize the curriculum of Arabic primary
schools and other projects in Brunei for a period of one month.
Surprisingly his health condition at the moment is very critical with
kidney and other ailments and is being admitted into the Kuala Lumpur
Hospital only a few days ago. He had been on contract in Brunei
before and working as a lecturer in UBD but later resigned his post to
take up politics by joining PAS Party in Perlis. He has been known to
be a very outspoken person and preach fundamental Islamic teachings
when he was in Brunei and later went back to Malaysia to compete
against Dr. Mahadir under PAS Party in Perlis. As he is a close
friend of Si Topi Senget and and also close friends of the 3 Stooges
of Brunei,he could easily come back to Brunei any time and to be able
to secure a very good appointment here. I just wonder why do we have
to appoint an outsider especially a Malaysian to do this job. Surely
by now we would have our own Doctors and Professors in UBD, the
Ministry of Education or the Ministry of Religious Affairs to carry
out this simple job. Further more what is the point of employing a
sick person when he will be bedridden most of the time and the Brunei
Government will end up paying for his medical expenses. Lastly as he
is now a member of the opposition Islamic fundamentalist party in
Malaysia his presence in Brunei would not be acceptable by the Brunei
Government as he could pose a security threat to the country. Awang

Children are Angles and Ubat Penawar :
NEVER ARGUE WITH A CHILD
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher
said, "It was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human
because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very
small."
The little girl stated that a whale swallowed Jonah. Irritated,
the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it
was physically impossible.
The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".
The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"
The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children
while they drew. She would occasionally walk around to see each
child's work.
As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she
asked what the drawing was?
The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks
like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl
replied,
"They will in a minute."
_________________________________________________________________________
A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with
her
five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to
"honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a
commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and
sisters?"
Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family)
answered,” Thou shall not kill."
_________________________________________________________________________
One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the
dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother
has several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her
brunette head. ! ;
She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of
your hairs white, Mom?"
Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong
and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then
said, "Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"
__________________________________________________________________________
the children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying
to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.
"Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all
grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer; she's a lawyer,' or 'that's
Michael. He's a doctor.'"
A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the
teacher. She's dead."
__________________________________________________________________________
A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood.
Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I
stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I
would turn red in the face."
"Yes," the class said.
"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary
position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"
A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic
elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large
pile of apples.
The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: "Take only ONE.
God is watching." Moving further along the lunch line, at the
other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.
A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching
the apples." Big Bad Wolf 21.10.2003 |
