Charter
flights:
Its good that RBA is organizing a charter flight to Melbourne.
Well done! How about to other exotic destinations Bruneians rarely
get a chance to visit. Like Penang, Langkawi, Bombay and New
Delhi, Paris, Honolulu? All are SARS free destinations. Think
imaginatively RBA. The possibilities are endless to give travelers
from Brunei a taste of new destinations. By the way the RBA fare
to Melbourne is kind of high. SIA is in the market with a return
fare to Melbourne of B$650.00 valid until end June. That's partly
to steal Brunei originating traffic. With SIA's fare so low, I
doubt RBA's charter to Melbourne will be much of a success.

Underutilization of RBA aircraft:
Now with SARS RBA is given by God's grace months of breathing
space. Its aircraft are underutilized. Many are seen for hours
idling on the tarmac at Brunei International Airport. An airline
analyst and expert told me once, "An aircraft only makes
money when it’s flying. When it is in the air. RBA should
improve its aircraft usage. The aircraft should spend more hours
in the air each day than on the ground. Aircraft are expensive
assets. To have them underutilized are a crying shame and a waste
of multimillion-dollar assets. frequent flyer 25.05.2003*

Wrong choice:
The choice of Airbus A319 is the wrong one. When we have an
existing Boeing fleet to choose Airbus is bizarre. Why not choose
the smaller versions of the Boeing aircraft like the Boeing
737/600-700 or 800 models. Or else the Boeing 717? We are making a
catastrophic multimillion dollar mistake..... Airbus requires new
spares, engines, engineering tools and training for engineers and
pilots. When the CEO was asked why Airbus his reply was that
"because it can carry cargo" Has anyone seen or knows an
aircraft, which cannot carry cargo? The existing aircraft's cargo
space is underutilized and we are ordering some more aircraft to
carry passengers and the non-existent cargo volume increases.

Tourism in Brunei:
Hello anyone heard of Sheikh Jimmy and Brunei Tourism recently...
Where are the tourism initiatives for this year? Actually every
year should be Visit Brunei Year. The tourism unit should be
working flat out to promote the country. But they seem to be
working hard only once every ten years. Come on how will RBA
flourish? Are the tourism people so poor in promotions or are they
lazy? It’s enough of excuses like "no budget" and
things like that. Wake up people. Wanderer 25.05.2003*

Malaysia
Relations:
Any one cares to analyze why our beloved sultan is in Malaysia
now? It’s no coincidence!!! I have mentioned this earlier.
I am proud to see that our sultan came to met with our big brother
prime minister in Penang instead escalating situation on the
territorial claim. But I think it is time for us Bruneians
to build a credible military force so one will think twice about
poking around with our foreign policy (one should examine our
foreign policy). So message to you civil admin: You need a
modern armed force to protect your liberties and freedom....
don’t want to be become another Iraq. I think

ENEMIES OF
ISLAM ARE ZIONISTS NOT JEWS:
In history, we read about Jews and Muslims working together
during the Golden Days of Islam. The Jews even welcomed the Muslim
conquerors in many parts of the conquered lands.
The Anti-Semitism among Muslims today has its roots in Palestine.
Due to political propaganda by the Arabs, the Jews are now labeled
as enemies of Islam, which is NOT TRUE! The enemies of Islam are
the ZIONISTS NOT THE JEWS!!!
I hope my Muslim brethren will differentiate between JEWS and
ZIONISTS just as we hope our non-Muslim friends will differentiate
between MUSLIMS and TERRORISTS.
NOT all Jews are Zionists and not all Muslims are Terrorists!!
JEWS and ZIONISTS, MUSLIMS and TERRORISTS, they are not the
same!!!
A TRUE MUSLIM IS NOT A RACIST!!! Anti-Racist Muslim

Gurkhas:
I must admit after reading some of the articles here about the
Gurkhas in Brunei, Bruneians are -sorry to say- naive. If you do
not know why they are here, do not write any crap or come to your
own wrong conclusions. Think about it, we are not the only ones
reading this. What would others think about Bruneians? Are we a
bunch of low self respecting people who do not know a thing about
their country? Well for those type of people, I say do your
homework. Please and I beg you, don't let the pride of Brunei go

Awg Mutalib Darglish Houllier:
Thank you for the information. No doubt about it that Liverpool
was and still is one of the greatest teams on the planet with 18
League trophies, 4 European Cup winners, 6 FA cup winners and the
list go on and on. In comparison with Manutd, they've got 14
League trophies, 2 European Cup winners, 10 FA cup winners and
other trophies. Well, it doesn't look that bad. We are not that
far, in which I need to be dead before seeing Man utd beat the
fantastic record that Liverpool has. Say, for instance, in the
next 10-11 years. Since we always love to refer history, please
let me take your attention to the period between the year 1993 and
2003. Man Utd got 8 League titles, 3 FA Cup winners and 1 UEFA
Champion League trophy during this period. Double winner in 1994
& 1996 and treble in 1999. These were all achieved in the
matter of 10-11 years. Assuming that my life expectancy rate is at
70s, and further assuming that other things are being equal, I
will therefore be alive for the next 10-11 years to see Man utd
achieving the unthinkable, as what you may have thought. Come
on...a century...you are being unfair brader...! Keano 25.05.2003

LIMBANG
DISTRICT:
Brunei claims on Limbang District, this story heard since I was a
child. Now I'm in my thirties, Limbang District still
has NOT returned to Brunei. Don't give false hope and
promise DR. M. Read the history, revised the
history if DR M understood and the man of his words then he should
know what to do where Limbang District map should be. These
matters were arisen for many decades and still NOTHING!!!!
Malaysia only could give false hope about Limbang and Brunei
population. Don't ever dream of Limbang would be part of
Brunei. It is such a sad destiny for Limbang.
All they could get is only empty promise upon empty promise.
You know how this political tongues talk. Only if the
people who were given trust and in charge of Limbang during the
reign of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin I, were not greedy and blinded
by wealth, sold off Limbang secretly to James Brook! This wouldn't
have happened! The betrayal of the people in charge of
Limbang was unforgivable! James Brook took Limbang like
taking a candy from a baby! LOTS OF LUCK to our beloved His
Majesty. PEACE 25.05.2003*

RACIST:
I agreed with you China Brunei, don't judge blindly on the
Chinese, I myself am not pure Brunei Malay. The root of my
descendant was Chinese through paternal, because most of them
married Malays so we are considered being Malay.
Though 4 generations apart, I still have Chinese sentiments in me.
Sometimes I'm thinking of tracing back my roots. It's not
that I'm being ungrateful being Brunei Citizen with yellow I.C.
It 's the feeling. Even my friends from school and
close colleagues are Chinese though I could not understand a word
of Chinese language, yet I'm working on the language so that I'm
part of them. Please stop these racism remarks
about Chinese. Even the paper wrote word Chinese and
not "Local”, it's because majority in Brunei are Malays, so
other races are distinctive enough showing when there's crime or
good deeds happen. Just don't take heart over that matter.
Perhaps the journalists are totally lack of knowledge or simply
ignorant. To all Chinese out there, keep up the good work to build
Brunei's economy, and the Malays are doing well too, stop these
envious remarks towards Chinese. Partly Chinese Blood

Limbang is
finally near to where it should be:
Now we Bruneian should
take serious interest into one of our long lost territory that was
taken against our will (illegally) by the historical "Urang
Puteh". Needless to say, we have plenty of evidence to back
up our facts that any lawyer would consider it as a sure win if we
opt to go to International Court of Justice.
I really hope that the Brunei Government will fight till the end
to win back this long lost territory of Brunei. May God bless us
and let us successfully claim back Limbang. Johnny Bravo 25.05.2003*

VISIT JOKES TO PENANG: During
the tour visit in Penang, the Brunei entourage was brought to see
the latest 2-seater helicopter, which is user friendly.
Any Tom Dick or Harry can fly them after receiving 10 min
flight training. So every VIPs wants to try. The first to fly was
MIPR. Less than an hour he came back and landed safely at Bayan
Lepas, next was PUSB, he landed back in half an hour, so there
were 8 VIP's doing the test flight. After more than 30 the last
VIP's did not come back. So the entourage got panicked, the Search
And Rescue team scrambled out to locate the missing chopper.
Finally they found the chopper crashed at the end of the runway.
Luckily he survived and send to hospital for shock treatment. At
the hospital the Malaysian Press interviewed him. "Dato how
come you crash the chopper, the chopper is supposed to be a safe
chopper." Dato’s reply; after flying for 25 min in the air
on my return to Bayan Lepas I feel very, very cool, so I switch
off the big fan on top (Rotor blade), hahahaha funny jokes isn’t
it. Joker 25.05.2003*

I'm so sorry
to hear that: Hello
there! I’m from Indonesia, and I got no relationship with SSEAYP.
I just followed the test for SSEAYP in 2001, at that time, I must
say, I was absolutely inexperienced. I made it in the local test,
but I failed on the national test. Guess the content of my paper
was not that good. In 2002, I planned to join the test again, but
the committee in my province said that there's no test for 2002
because of 'that tragedy', and what I hate most was that...they
didn't tell anything about it. Until I searched in the Internet,
and I read bout that tragedy.
I do also feel sorry for esp. Bang Kamal's family; I just hope
that for the years to come, this thing won't happen again.
I don't know him, but I know how it feels to be left by our
beloved one.
Let's hope for the best for SSEAYP and the world.
I promise to myself, I will join the SSEAYP test, no matter how
many times I should try for it till I pass. I do really want to
meet my friends from all over Asia, share stories/experiences with
them, and introduce our country and cultures.
Next year.... I’m ready to give it a try again. Ganbatte ne !!!!

f1
circuit:
I totally agree that a f1 circuit should be built in Brunei…
Think of the spectators…a f1 circuit can hold up to 200000
spectators....if half of it were tourist, just think how much
foreign money Brunei can earn in one season...if the tickets were
priced at $100 each..Brunei can earn $10 million from tourists in
one season...on top of that tourists need accommodation,
transport, and other utilities...so Brunei can earn more or less
$20 million for that few days event...If the track cost $200
million, Brunei can easily earn it back it 10 years or even
less...at the same time, the local contractors will benefit as
well. So I think the government should really consider this.

people angling to be Prime Ministers are Pehin Isa and Pehin Aziz.
What makes you think those two will be better than His Majesty? I
doubt they will be. When they get into power they will show their

RBA:
Emirates was announced as best cargo carrier of the year; MAS is
making profits again; British Airways even is in the black. Cathay
Pacific has seen the worst. It is about to increase frequencies to
ten destinations. What about our beleaguered RBA? When will it see
profits? If we cannot get accurate profit figures within a year
then we should have a new Chairman, try a royal like Prince
Mohamed, Prince Billah or Prince Jefri. Do we need to wait till
2008, another five years to see results? Why wait another five
year for the current BOD to screw the airline really into the
ground. All the board members are bureaucrats. They have never run
a commercial enterprise in their lives. They have never made a
profit on anything...... Can we try a more commercially focused

Is it believable?:
The RBA Chairman saw that RBA revenue has grown rapidly within the

other airlines are bleeding even SIA and our revenue is growing.
What if the accountants have inflated the figures? How does Dato
hazair know if the figures are correct? He is not an accountant.
How can he check? He has to accept what he is given. As he is not
an accountant he can be easily cheated. These are just "pencuci
mata" comments to show His Majesty that the new board is
making some progress. Come on can we never hear the truth about
the national carrier. Bring back Dato Alimin I tell you. Only he

Death
by Goal Post:
to whom ever it may concern,
I’ve just read the tragic story about a young girl who got hit
on the head by a falling goal post and I feel deeply sorry about
it!..
So I just want to comment on about it. I’m not here to blame
anyone, but I’m just trying to point out something. It is the
duty of all principals/welfare teachers etc, in every school to
ensure the health and safety of all its students and staff
members. Even the smallest of all things could cause serious
damage and could lead to death and we are not aware and not
couscous about it. If used not properly even a small piece of
pencil could kill!. I’m sure the incident that had happened is
not what we all had expected and it is not easy on both sides,
especially on the members of the family. But we still need to move
on....
as for the school, this matter should be taken seriously. For you
cannot afford to let this kind of accident to happen again in the
future! It’s not a just a matter or reputation of the school but
also the fate of your job and most of all a young precious life is
lost! I will not tell the principal what to do in the future. That
is up to him to decide what precautions and steps he/she should
take and make sure this like this are safe and practicable and all
understands that. As for the family, I deeply sympathize about the
loss, and I know it’s not easy for the members of the family to
have to face this tragedy, but let’s just pray that your
daughter will be within the blessing of Allah S.A.W. Amin. I’m
just a regular teenager and its not really appropriate for me to
tell you what to do as well, but from now on, you should make sure
your children are safe from any danger, and I know it’s not easy
when you are not with them. Therefore you need to tell them what
to do and what not to do. That is the best way to do it.
Lets just hope this incident will not happen again, but we still
can’t stop death for it is in God's hands. .xxxx sean ali 25.05.2003*

Wrong
regional jets:
Ordering the Airbus A319 is just plain wrong.... They should think
of commonality with the fleet they currently operate..... If they
operate B767 and B757 then they should think of the small range of
Boeing jets like the B737-600s/700s/or800 models. They should also
evaluate the Boeing 717, formally a DC9 aircraft. Ordering Airbus
would need a new set of spares, engines, pilots and engineer
training. Or is it that some of the foreign pilots and engineers
want to train at RBA's expense and then go to other airlines that
operate Airbus aircraft like Silk Air or Dragonair? When the CEO
was asked why RBA ordered Airbus he said, "because they can
carry cargo" That was a very simplistic answer. All aircraft
can carry cargo..... The existing aircraft are not carrying enough
cargo. Cargo yields are so low. So why order new jets and give the
justification that it can carry cargo when the existing aircraft's
cargo space is under utilized? frequent flyer 25.05.2003

Not wrong:
Coffee breaks are not wrong. Every civil servant in every country
has them. It is an opportunity to network, discuss ideas,

Deputy Ministers and Permanent Secretaries try to manipulate us.
So during the breaks we have to discuss with our colleagues how to
avoid this and not get trapped by these Super Super Scale VIPs. If
coffee breaks are so wrong why does each Ministry have its own
canteen? If Dato Hazair wants staff not to share info and discuss
and to save time from coffee breaks why doesn't he just close down
the canteens in each Ministry? Coffee breaks are also useful in
finding out what is going on in other Ministries. By doing so,
socializing with other Ministry officials it makes InterMinistry
cooperation smoother. Hasn't Dato stopped to think that there may
be positive sides to the coffee breaks? Dato try to think wider.
Ada baik nya dan ada buroknya. I am now beginning to doubt your
neutrality on issues, fairness and credibility. Are you that
intelligent? Think before speaking. Otherwise you look and sound
otherwise. observer

RBA's
strategic plan:
I have read about RBA's strategic plan and I must say I am not
impressed.... There is a macro plan but more details are
necessary. The Borneo Bulletin article reveals that passenger and
cargo yield s are falling. Does RBA have a plan to improve this?
All the plans brings RBA's product up to the level of some other
airlines. Even with these product improvements the product will
still be below the offerings of SIA, Emirates, Cathay Pacific etc.
I am not optimistic. If RBA cannot return to profitability within
two years think we need to have a new Chairman.... A royal
one. Either Prince Mohamed, Prince Billah or even Prince Jefri.

Funny:
Dato Hazair must have a very poor memory. It was the Prime
Minister's Department that may have caused the problem. Some years
ago that department issued a memo or circular that it was OK for
public officers to own and run businesses during office hours. Of
course that circular will contribute to them neglecting their jobs
in the first place. Coffee shop visits are mandatory to do
business and to network. Don't tell me when Dato was a junior
officer many, many years ago his many friends didn't belanja him
during office hours? Why does he always make hard-hitting speeches
when His Majesty is abroad? I question the timing as well. Is he
echoing His Majesty(hardly) as HM can speak for himself. So he
must be echoing his boss the Honourable Special Minister.....Come
now Dato if the Honourable Special Minister wants to make a
speech. Let him do so. Why do you have to echo him? Why does he
remain in the shadows and you speak on his behalf. Come lah Dato...!

Container
terminal privatization wrong:
The decision to privatize the container terminal is the wrong
move. Why did we give it to a Singaporean company? Why didn't we
give it to Hutchinson, which manages the Hong Kong ports. Some of
the port workers even say instead of privatizing the container
terminal the government should have bought the container tracking
system only for a couple of million and run the port themselves.
Now we have lost sovereignty of our strategic industry for 25
years. Whoever consented to the privatization of the ports in the
Ministry of Communications and Prime Minister's Departments are
not far thinking enough who cannot have in mind the national
interest. His Majesty, better get them to resign and reverse the
decision. Why can't Brunei people be more patriotic?

Why Muslims want a separate country? There must a powerful reason

Man
united facts:
According to the manutd.com, Manchester united had been champions
14 times. It is four short compared to 18 times earned by
Liverpool. That is a fact. Not an opinion, stated by both official
manutd.com and Liverpool website www.liverpoofc.tv. Manchester
United still had a lot to catch up. For this year, well I, a
Liverpool fan, congratulate Manchester united for being the
champion. One thing
that Liverpool record cannot be broken is that, in the last
century, Liverpool was the greatest club.
In terms of European trophies, man united is still far
behind. I can still
remember a Manchester united fan that had written in HYS stating
that Liverfool (as they always like to type) saying that Liverpool
was not on par with real Madrid.
Well go to the websites again. Manutd was not even on par
with the Ajax, (Holland club). Ajax had been crowned champions
league champions four times. Liverpool did.
To Manchester united fans, please, good luck in this century. By
the time u and I are dead, I think manutd could catch up with the
mighty Liverpool feats. Awang mutalib dalglish houllier 24.05.2003

BRUNEI
SHOULD HAVE NATIONAL SERVICE!
I see 'Ghurkhas' has been a hot topic these few days : )
My opinion is: We should rely on ourselves rather than on others.
I think Brunei should have compulsory national service like
Singapore and Malaysia. All male citizens upon reaching 18 years
of age should do the national service for one year.
This could boost Brunei's military power and provide the Bruneians
basic trainings to face any emergency! What do you think? Brunei

YC Lee's mistake:
I am no lawyer or friend of JL (whoever he is) but my first
impression of the comments is simply this... the debtor is
"poor" and the creditor is "rich". Who pays
for the lawyer??? The rich...but I think it is wrong to say that
he is bad for bullying the poor because that is what he has been
paid for by the rich (and you ask any other lawyer, they will do
the same!!)...And no he doesn't suck up the rich for their money
because its the rich people who want their money back from the
poor and they are willing to pay the lawyer for doing that (and
you ask any other lawyer and they will do the same!!!).... So may
be I am naive to say that YC did not make a mistake because all
the lawyers, whichever firm they work with, will do the same.... naive

A true story to share, part 1:
Ever since I can remember, my family attended a conservative
Christian church (Church of Christ). I grew up in the church,
taught bible school and sang in the choir. I learn my piano in
church. As a young teenager I began asking questions (as I think
everyone does at one point in their lives): Why was I a member of
the Church of Christ and not say Lutheran, Catholic or Methodist?
If various churches are teaching conflicting doctrine, how do we
know which one is right? Are they all right? Do `all paths lead to
God' as I had heard some say? Others say that as long as you are a
good person it doesn't matter what you believe - is that true?
After some soul searching I decided that I did believe that there
was an ultimate truth and in an attempt to find that truth I began
a comparison study of various churches. I decided that I believed
in the Bible and would join the church that best followed the
Bible. After a lengthy study, I decided to stay with the Church of
Christ, satisfied that its doctrines were biblically sound
(unaware at this stage that there could be various interpretations
of the Bible).
I spent a year at UBD, but later transferred overseas. In UBD
having no transport somehow with luck though I live in Bandar I
was let to stay in hostel. It was in fact my first real experience
with cultural diversity and it scared me (having been raised in a
middle class Chinese Christian community).
My hostel mates became very involved in the dorm activities and
got to know most everyone in the block. I enrol myself in some of
the activities with them. It turned out to be a wonderful,
fascinating experience! As contrary to what I was told at home
about the Muslims, They were charming, smart, and a lot of fun to
be around. I started to become really click with one of the Muslim
girl. We talk a lot of things but we never really discussed
religion, we were just having fun. Claried 24.05.2003 |
My story to share, part 2:
The year passed and we were just enjoying each other's company and
never discussed our religious differences. Neither of us was
practicing at this time so it never really became an issue for us.
I did, deep down, feel guilty for not attending church, but I
pushed it in the back of my mind. I was having too much fun.
Another year passed and I was home for summer vacation when one of
childhood friend called me with some very distressing news: she'd
become a Muslim!! I was horrified. She didn't tell me why she
converted, just that she had spent a lot of time talking with her
boyfriend's brother and it all made sense to her. After we hung
up, I immediately wrote her a long letter explaining that she was
ruining her life and to just give Christianity one more chance.
That same summer my Muslim friend transferred to UK. But I am
still in UBD, misses her being around and started exchanging
emails, things got real close from then.
Secretly I started reading books on Islam. However I read books
that were written by non-Muslims. One of the books I read was
Islam Revealed by Anis Sorosh. I felt guilty about my friend's
conversion. I felt that if I had been a better Christian, she
would have turned to the church rather than Islam. Islam was a
man-made religion, I believed, and filled with contradictions.
After reading Sorosh's book, I thought I could convert my friend
and even my Muslim gf to Christianity.
One day during her holiday she said: "The more I learn about
Christianity, the stronger my belief in Islam becomes." At
about this same time he started showing signs of wanting to
practice his religion again. Our problems began. We started
talking about religion and arguing about our different beliefs.
She told me I should learn about Islam and I told her I already
knew everything I needed to know. I got out Sorosh's book and told
him I could never believe in Islam. She is not a scholar by any
stretch of the imagination, yet he had an answer for everything I
showed her in Sorosh's book. I was impressed by his knowledge. She
told me that if I really wanted to learn about Islam it must be
through Islamic sources. Right after tennis she bought a few books
for me from an Islamic bookstore. What a difference the Islam I
learned about from Muslim sources from the Islam I learned about
from non-Muslims
it was so difficult though when I actually decided to convert. My
pride stood in the way for a while. How could I admit to my
husband and my friend that they were right all along? I felt
humiliated, embarrassed. Soon though, I could deny the truth no
longer, swallowed my pride, and alhamdulilah, I have embraced
Islam - the best decision I ever made. Claried 24.05.2003 |
My story to share, part 3: A
few things I want to say to the non-Muslim reader: When I
originally began my search for the truth all those years ago, I
made a few wrong assumptions. First, I assumed that the truth is
with Christianity only. It never occurred to me at that time to
look outside Christianity. Second, I assumed that the Bible was
the true Word of God. These were bad assumptions because they
prohibited me from looking at things objectively. When I began my
earnest study of Islam, I had to start at the very beginning, with
no preconceived ideas. I was not a Christian looking at Islam; I
looked at both Islam and Christianity (and many other religions)
from the point of view of an outsider. My advice to you is to be a
critical thinker and a critical reader. Another mistake that many
people make when talking about Islam is that they pick out a
certain teaching and judge the whole of Islam on that one point.
For example, many people say that Islam is prejudiced towards
women because Islamic laws of inheritance award the male twice as
much as the female. What they fail to learn, however, is that
males have financial responsibilities in Islam that females do not
have. It is like putting a puzzle together: until you have all the
pieces in the right places, you cannot make a statement about the
picture, you cannot look at one little piece of the puzzle and
judge the whole picture. Many people said that the only reason I
converted was because of my husband. It is true that I studied
Islam because he asked me to - but I accepted Islam because it is
the truth. My husband and I are currently separated and plan to
divorce in June, insha' Allah. My faith in Islam has never been
stronger than it is now. I look forward to finding a practicing
Muslim husband, insha' Allah, and growing in my faith and
practice. Being a good Muslim is my number one priority.
May Allah lead all of us closer to the truth? claried 24.05.2003 |
What others said about Islam:
This is no less than a reminder to (all) the worlds. And you shall
certainly know the truth of it (all) after a while. (38:87-88)

and pillar of stability for many of our people..." HILLARY

fastest-growing religion. ABCNEWS, Abcnews.com
"Islam continues to grow in America, and no one can doubt
that!" CNN, December 15, 1995

It has been a great pleasure for me to help clarify statements in
the Qur’an about human development. It is clear to me that
these statements must have come to Muhammad from Allah, or Allah,
because almost all of this knowledge was not discovered
until many centuries later. This proves to me that Muhammad must
have been a messenger of Allah.
"But Islam has a still further service to render to the cause
of humanity. It stands after all nearer to the real East than
Europe does, and it possesses a magnificent tradition of
inter-racial understanding and cooperation. No other society
has such a record of success uniting in an equality of status, of
opportunity, and of endeavours so many and so various races of
mankind . . . Islam has still the power to reconcile apparently
irreconcilable elements of race and tradition. If ever the
opposition of the great societies of East and West is to be
replaced by cooperation, the mediation of Islam is an
indispensable condition. In its hands lies very largely the
solution of the problem with which Europe is faced in its relation
with East. If they unite, the hope of a peaceful issue
is immeasurably enhanced. But if Europe, by rejecting the
cooperation of Islam, throws it into the arms of its rivals, the
issue can only be disastrous for both." --H.A.R. Gibb,
WHITHER ISLAM, London, 1932, p. 379.
"If a man like Muhamed were to assume the dictatorship of the
modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems that
would bring it the much needed peace and happiness." George
Bernard Shaw
"How, for instance, can any other appeal stand against that
of the Moslem who, in approaching the pagan, says to him, however
obscure or degraded he may be 'Embrace the faith, and you are at
once equal and a brother.' Islam knows no colour line." (S.
S. Leeder, VEILED MYSTERIES OF EGYPT)

I think it seems to me very, very mysterious, almost unbelievable.
I really think if what you have said is true,
Professor William W. Hay is one of the best-known marine

this sort of information is in the ancient scripture of the

from, but I think it is extremely interesting that they are there
and that this work is going on to discover it, the meaning of some
of the passages. Professor Hay: Well, I would think it must be the

Catholic vs. Muslim:
to the Christian, God is three gods merged into one God. This one
God is called a Trinity. However, to say that God is three is a
blasphemy of the highest order. All three parts of the Trinity are
"coequal" "co-eternal" and "the same
substance." For this reason, this doctrine is described as
"a mystery."
To Muslim, God is one God in the most basic, simple, and
elementary meaning of the word. He has no children, no parents nor
any equal. In Islam God is known by the name "Allah" and
more than 99 other venerated names, such as "the
Merciful," "the Gracious," "the
All-Powerful," etc.
to catholic, Jesus is the second member of the Triune God, the Son
of the first part of the Triune God, and at the same time
"fully" God in every respect.
The truth is he is just a very elect and highly esteemed messenger
of God. No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe this.
The Christian accepted the bible 100% the faultless word of God.
In Islam, Muslims believe in the books of the previous
prophets including the "Torah" which was sent to Moses,
the "Zaboor" (Psalms) which were given to David, the
"Injeel" (Gospel) which was given to Jesus, and the
Qur'an which was given to Muhammad However, Muslims are told that
the previous scriptures were tampered with by mankind and the
Bible should only be accepted in as far as it is confirmed by the
Qur'an. It is to be treated with respect, however any statements,
which clearly oppose those of the Qur’an, are to be rejected as
the work of mankind.
In the church, Christian called nabi Muhammad in varying beliefs.
Some believe that he was a liar, some believe he was a lunatic,
some believe he was the False Messiah, and yet others claim he was
deceived by the Devil.
The truth is the last messenger of God to all of humanity. He was
known as "The Truthful, the Trustworthy" before he
received his first revelation. He was sent by God as a mercy to
all creation. He was a human being but performed a number of
miracles during his lifetime by the will of God.
The quran, the catholic believe it being a copy of the Bible to it
being the work of Muhammad (pbuh), to its being the work of
Christians and Jews who were conspiring with Muhammad.
In reality it is the last book of God sent to mankind. It was
given the distinction of being personally guarded by God from
human tampering. It is on a literary level never before seen by
mankind. No human to this day has ever been able to meet its
challenge to "write a work similar to it." It shall
remain safe from the tampering of mankind till the Day of Judgment
as guidance for all Humanity.
They are many other superiority of Islam in that it makes more
senses than Christianity. fishlip 24.05.2003 |
Islam is great:
why is the catholic Christian here, I reckon they are Filipinos
calling our Muslim brothers and sisters "monkey just come out
from the jungle" and what make they think that "If the
Christians are as bad as it says, not one Muslim will be alive
today".
Are they so superior??? And furthermore I did not recall the ex
catholic who had seen god's way and embraced Islam calling other
non Muslims any name like monkey and I dun recall he ask Muslims
to hate non Muslims, in fact he or she was asking the Muslim too
be careful not to be easily enticed by the Catholics. that’s all
and he even call the non Muslim as "our fellow human"
not "monkeys"????
I think, it is now reveal itself that this very weird catholic is
only have one thing in mind, propagates hatred towards Islam,
why> because he/she/they are jealous.
So it only concludes to that this catholic, I think he or she is
Filipino, is the real monkey just comes out from Amazon jungle to
beg for money in the greener and peaceful pasture in this
beautiful country.
He dun even read and understands what the ex catholic is writing,
and jumped into his monkey head and call people names. Can u guys
imagine how our Muslims are living in Philippine? I think this
people are terrorizing them. Xxx 24.05.2003 |

To Ratz and his/her friends:
Well I just read your words about why they are here. Well to
answer your simple question>> they are here because the
Sultan of Brunei wants them to be here. Are they making any
trouble here in Brunei??? I don't believe that they are making any
trouble here. They are here because of another reason, they have
contracts here. To say the least, they are much more qualified
then the Bruneian soldiers. They have much more experience then
our local so-called heroes. They have been in war before Brunei
got their independence. This is the truth. What is Brunei was
invaded by another country??? They would be the first on the
field. And yes this is the truth... Believe me. If you have any

Should u rely on the Ghurkha how many numbers of them base in our

soldier.4 your info the Ghurkha are under the British soldier and
we are under British protection b for and since our country has
independence we r no longer under their roof. But we still need
them. Why should u compare Malaysia? Even if we under attack by
other country still the Ghurkha cant protect us with out the help
from our local soldier n we cant do anything if we are attack from
the neighbourhood country if there use their special weapon the
jet fighter since Brunei don’t have one. Think about it don’t
u feel very nervous but I do. To me what I understand the Ghurkha
b 4 and after I prefer b 4.coz what we have now there are no
discipline there get drunk and disturb the public its happen once
I spot there disturb our Malay n young ladies and thinking they
can buy them with money. To me imp nervous y the British and
Singapore soldier in our country and what are their motive this
two country are brother to the AMERICAN. Look what Singapore has
done to our Muslim people out there. There always put the blame on
the Muslim. So to u mr nervous don’t b nervous put your trust on

I didn’t really read your note that well...this is only my
opinion...I must say that Britain was not that desperate to make
Brunei its strategic location for whatever reason.... unlike in
1840s...her British forces in Singapore n Malaysia were pulled out
in late 1970s if I am not mistaken.... they rather have their
forces within the EU than in Southeast Asia because of the
economic and political reasons.... --though at later stage in 1970
they admitted that to pull out from southeast Asia would create
the power vacuum esp. to the communists.... I think the fact that
Brunei would fully finance it made Britain had no problem to let
the forces remained in Brunei...thus automatically protected their
interests namely the SHELL co..... adios.... bye Honey

Gurkhas:
"Why are the Gurkhas here? What sort of army they’re from?
I'm just curious to see soldiers, which are Brunei’s, stationed
in our country. Can anyone shed any light on the matter".
The Gurkhas are part of the British army, although they are all
Nepalese. They are here because the Brunei Government pays
the British Government to send them! There are 10-year
agreements between the two governments and, the last was signed in
January. The government does this because 1) Brunei is
a small country and doesn't have enough population to allow it to
have a large armed force of its own 2) Gurkhas are reckoned to be
amongst the strongest fighting force in the world
3) Gurkhas are very cheap! It would cost 5-10 times
as much to have a force of Bruneians. The
Brunei-Britain agreement also gives the Sultan the right to ask
Britain to send in extra British forces to defend Brunei if it is
attacked by someone Phil, phil@hotmail.com

story of ali g:
he always gets upset when he can’t go down on me. It’s ok
sonny, grandpa is here now. ali and I live together in a trailer
near the border. i just got him a job at the local walmart; he is
doing good at it. he may be moved up to head bag boy if he works
hard enough. i buy him beer, non-alcoholic beer that is and tell
him it’s real beer. he goes around the neighbourhood yelling
that he is drunk and everything. It’s so funny. he is so dumb
but he does go down on me well. he just graduated 9th grade, only
took him 4 times to do so. i am proud to say that he is now
reading at a fourth grade level. it takes him 3 hours to write one
message here, bless him. Well, i just wanted to clear up something
for him, his grandpa, and he is doing better now. He’s going to
play with grandpa now so goodnight ali , i'm amaze u can use
decent words. your repetitive use of the same words in your
previous postings tells me your level of intelligence. But, then

show them the light:
Your comments against Catholics and Christians are all distorted.
If the Christians are as bad you say, not one Muslim will be alive
today. Before you judge others, think carefully, as in every
Religion there is good and bad. Broaden your knowledge on every
aspect of other Religions and race before passing judgement. what
you are doing is inciting hatred and doing exactly what you are
blaming the Christians/Catholics for islam 23.05.03 |

YC Lee's Mistake:
J L is a bad bad bad bad person who bullies poor people! he sucks
up the rich one for $$$ 23.05.03. |
To: The Insider and ex catholic:
There are good Christians and Bad Christians just like there are
Good Muslims and Bad Muslims. Similarly, there are Good People
and Bad People. It is naive and dangerous to judge "them
all" by the actions of "the few".
E.G if all Muslims were to be judged on the actions of those
responsible for the events on 9/11, what would be the
conclusion? Looking at the facts you would conclude that Muslims
killed thousands of people.
Who were these people that died? Were they government? Some.
Were they military? No. Were they civilians? Yes. Did the
attackers discriminate between Muslims, Christians, Jews,
Buddhists, Hindus, blacks, whites, red, yellow or any other
race, religion or colour? No, they killed who ever was on the
planes and whoever was in the buildings.
Should 'all' Muslims be judged as 'indiscriminate murderers' for
the actions of these 'few'? No. Do all Muslims believe that they
should be? No. If they were, wouldn't they then make enemies of
anyone and everyone who wasn't Muslim? and not just Christians.
From Islam to Christianity, from Buddhism to Hinduism, they all
teach us to be better individuals and to be better servants for
our respective Gods and be more respectful towards our fellow
man, or quiet simply, we will burn in hell (they all say that
not me).
If you take the time to look into it you'll see that all
religions say basically the same thing, with ''peace'' being the
prevailing theme. So how is it that wars are waged in the name
of religion?
The problem isn't the religion, the problem is the people.
If anyone attacks or wages war in the name of Religion, then
they are evidently using religion for ulterior motives.
It is these motives we should better understand! As they will
lead us to the truth, and that can only be good.
Religion is just a tool! Used and abused! It is used to lead a
better life, to achieve understanding, to be at peace and to
gain salvation. It is Abused to gain political power, to create
inequality to persecute and to control.
If you can look at it like that, the world we live in and the
violent history of "Man" will become clear. The

to ex catholic 22.05.2003:
I think you are a confused person. You said you were anti Islam
and not anti Muslim. I would think that you are a monkey just
emerged from the forest or just simply ignorant. The Muslims and
the Jews spread religion the same manner - by way of the sword as
history dictates them. They also share the same prophets! In my
life as a Catholic in Brunei, there has never been a sermon or a
preaching condemning the Muslims or Islam or even the Jews and
others except for general terrorists may they be Muslims,
Catholics, Hindus or others. You are just creating religious
tensions among the harmonious people of this great nation.
Frankly, you had better spend sometime browsing the internet for
more information before putting your shit brain into negative
output. Sad to say, you are not even once a Catholic by way of
expression!!! If you can't see it that way, then don't worry. You
just swallowed the Blue Pill. Reader

Awards:
It's good to see such awards, being received by Dyg Hjh Masiah at
the Mass gathering for Maulud Nabi organised by Woman Council. She
deserved that award for being an 'ibu mithali'. I'm proud to hear
that such citizen really pressed her children to be so religious
and won such great awards from the al-quran competition.

Feeling n sharing the Euphoria:
There hasn't been anything very interesting to read on HYS
lately.... I suppose everyone has run out of ideas? Perhaps? I
haven't got much to say either apart from the fact that I'm going
home soon!! In fact, very soon now.... I should be in Brunei by
this coming Sunday even! I am so excited and feeling rather
apprehensive at the same time that I decided to share this good
news with you all.... Heh! :) *Can't contain the feelings* Well,
I'm very much looking forward to paying a visit to Coffee Bean
(for the ice-blended mocha and cheesecakes), Fratini's (seafood
pizza), Coffee Zone (cold chocolate and fries), Arena (pool),
Empire (movies and dinner), RBC (beef steak) etc....!! On top of
all, this holiday of mine would be so very different from the
previous many holidays that I've had! There'll be lots of new
faces and people to see and meet! Goodness gracious! It's so
exciting! Most importantly, the old junkie is gone for good now -
at least outta 'moi's' life! If yo!
u happen to be reading this though, you need to take a long good
look at yourself in the mirror and contemplate whether or not
you're good enough for anyone. I'm very much elated and glad for
making that very decision last time. It was a good-riddance
definitely! Now, you won't be there to control my life anymore....
You should have always known where you stood next to me...., but
you were pushing it a bit too far when you barely even had
anything (maybe you did have the $$ but something which I ain't
too particular about), and needless to say the
"attitude"' to be with 'moi'. If each and every sentence
that I have said means something to you, fear not, it must be you
that I'm talking about and you'd know who I am. Anyhow, I'm coming
home!! *Grin*23.05.03 |

PATRIOTIC CHINESE IN ADOPTED COUNTRIES!:
Chinese can be patriotic in their adopted countries. I will take
a few countries in Southeast Asia for example:
PHILIPPINES
Filipino National Hero Jose Rizal was a Filipino of Chinese
ancestry. His Chinese surname was 'KE' and his ancestors came from
Quanzhou, Fujian, China!
Filipino President Corozon Aquino had a Chinese ancestry. She had
been to Fujian, China to visit her ancestral tombs.
THAILAND
King Taksin who ruled Thailand from 1767-1782 was a Chinese. His
father was a Chinese immigrant from Chaozhou, Guangdong, China and
his mother was a Thai.
70% of the Thai parliament is made up of Chinese Thais.
The Present Thai Prime Minister Taksin Shinawatra is a Thai-
Chinese.
INDONESIA
6 of the 9 famous Wali Songos were Chinese. The nine walis were
Sufi teachers who spread Islam and did all variety of powerful and
unusual acts across Java. Some became founders of kingdoms in
Java.
Abdul Rahman Wahid was a descendant of one of the Chinese Muslim
Walis.
VIETNAM
6th century Vietnamese Independence leader Ly Bi was a Chinese,
whose family came from northern China during disorders in teh
first century AD. .
The founder and the first king of the Ly dynasty (1009-1225), Ly
Cong Uan was a Chinese.

To Critic and Anti-Kina!:
I have read several racist postings here and I should say I am
very annoyed by them.
'Critic' have to understand the Malay position. Many Malays are
suspicious of Chinese because many Chinese do not want to
assimilate into the Bruneian society, many do not even bother to
learn the Malay language and culture and are not patriotic to this
country.
Many of us Chinese seem to forget where our feet stand. Unless we
change our attitudes and assimilate into the Bruneian society, we
cannot blame the Bruneians for treating us as 'aliens' and not
treating us fair. If we were in their shoes we would do the
samething! Everybody wants to protect their interests!
When our ancestors from China came to live in Brunei we have
adopted this country. Therefore we should love this country as our
own and respect the Brunei culture and customs and not take things
for granted. Even if we are not yet citizens! W have to prove our
sincerity and worthiness for Bruneian citizenship!
'Do not ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do
for your country'. US President John F. Kennedy
A Malay proverb goes 'Di mana Bumi di pijak di situ langit di
junjung' and another goes like this 'Masuk kandang kambing
megembek, masuk kandang harimau memgaum.' Or the English
equivalent 'When in Rome, do as the Roman do'.
The 'Bruneianized' Chinese (Chinese who accustomed to Brunei's
culture and customs) are living well with the majority Malays and
I am one of them.
'Anti Kina' comments are very racist, I should say. Not all
Chinese are like what you said. Many of us are Bruneians! And
don't be ungrateful too! If you look around you, you can see how
much we Chinese have contributed to the nation-building of Brunei
Darussalam. How do you know you yourself is not a Chinese
descendant? ketulahan karang! Do you have a genealogy to prove
your pure Brunei-Malay lineage? If we read the history of Brunei,
Brunei had been frequented by Arab, Indian and Chinese traders.
Many of them are Muslims and they had intermarried with the Malays
and had descendants in Brunei who had been assimilated into the
Malay group! Even today, I have many Malay friends who are in fact
Chinese descendants as they had either paternal Chinese
grandfather or father. But in their ICs they are listed as Malay!
Before you ask the Chinese to leave, you should go for a DNA test
first because you might be leaving with us! CINA BRUNEI
