Islam
and Modernization:
Bercakap mengenai
kehidupan orang-orang Islam dizaman moden ani, teingat ku
kan documentary yang ku lihat on Channel 4 (UK) di malam. It was
entitled 'Culture Clash' and the documentary centred on the lives
of orang muda-mudi beragama Islam yang menetap di UK ani. Kena
lihatkan the lives of two different groups of Muslim youths, yang
mana the first one manage to preserve the Islamic identity by
menyesuaikan cara pemakaian dan kehidupan mereka selaras dengan
ajaran agama kitani, and then the second atu, well, terpengaruhlah
jua oleh kehidupan cara barat. Kena lihatkan these Muslim youths
clubbing and ku perhatikan banar-banar, mcm ada mua melayu jua dlm
club ah! Tapi bukan orang Brunei kali, being in the UK for
sometime, dpt udah ku membezakan antara orang Brunei sama orang
melayu dari negara jiran. Anyway, the documentary was basically
saying that dalam arus permodenan ani, sesetengah muda-mudi yang
beragama Islam will find it difficult to comply to the proper
teachings of Islam (mcm cara berpakaian,
pergaulan etc.) sebab terlalu kan mengikut perkembangan zaman
moden. In other words, those yang terlalu kan mengangung-agungkan
permodenan will find it rather difficult to lead a healthy Islamic
way of life sebab they're too engrossed in being 'modern,'
'hi-tech,' etc which may explain kenapa sesetengah muda-mudi di
Brunei ani tersalah memilih baju sampai mendedahkah aurat
bisdurang. Maklumlah, spaghetti strapped tops, skimpy shirts
baring the tummy, see-through pants, low-cut jeans etc. atu are
considered trendy and modern masa ani. Please do not get me wrong:
I don't mean to say that in order to be a good Muslim, one then
has to live a life of a hermit i.e. semua serba kuno, BUT he/she
has to be wise and live life in moderation. I think that is
what Islam is all about - kesederhaanan. Boleh tani mengikut arus
perkembangan masa, tapi we should not let modernization take
control of our lives sampai tani lupa akan our religious duties.
Tonight Channel 4 will be showing another documentary called
"Mom, I am a Muslim." The documentary will be about the
growing phenomenon of English women in the UK memeluk agama Islam.
I'll tell you all about it in tomorrow's Have Your Say! Rational

regarding your observation and opinion atu, I agree, bari watir
cara bini2 melayu masa ani berbaju...seluar ketat jenis Flare atu
buleh dipakai tapi pakai baju yang panjang menutup punggung, and
then jangan pulang makai baju panjang tapi atas meluah. Ada jua
pisin2 baju yang latest tapi DECENT and masnis di pakai pakai lah
yang atu. And then ada lagi pakai tudung tapi pakai Baby-T,Low
Rise jeans...eh macam mana kan tu...abis tah ditarik-tarik baju
atu knonnya takut nampak pinggang. cali jua eh. and then pernah
the other day i saw this lady pakai skirt kneelength tapi pakai
tudung bari gelihati jua meliat caranya bebaju atu. Because I was
wondering what was she thinking when she planned to wear that
outfit! I am not saying I am a perfect dresser...I do make
mistakes but I am glad that the people around me give advice
supaya berpakaian senonoh and inda menjolok mata selaras dengan
cara muslim lah. Another thing lagi surprised ku liat..apatah lagi
mendengar activity2 sosial they are involved especially umur yang
masih under 18 years old. mana lagi yang involve dengan old,
married, VIP men regardless of their age la..but mostly yang
around 20's...I't was kinda surprising to hear initially. I say
that I am shocked because for quiet a long time I was away from
Brunei boleh dikatakan ignorant lah sikit hal ehwal di Brunei masa
atu. Iatah ku surprised atu. I thought di Brunei inda exist secara
berleluasa gejala sosial jenis macam ani. I am not saying brunei
ani ketinggalan zaman, but in my mind I pictured that Brunei is
maju and all that but I did not think the people punya cara
berpakaian pun buleh berubah sampai inda ingat their culture and
religion. For me its not wrong to look different and be up to date
in fashion as long as inda labih labihan. MaggieMee

Gimmick:
What the banks in Brunei are doing dosen’t sound like a war to
me, it sounds like a campaign, that is the marketing campaign,
another gimmick to lure customers in the very increasing
competition between banks to get as much slices of the percentage
pie as possible. There's nothing wrong with that, but the word
"war" is misleading. It is the marketing word. If they
really are waging a war, then why don’t
they form a collateral bonding and push legal action again the
operators. But no! no! no!, they send brochures telling why their
respective "offers" (investment vehicles) are better.
This is not war, this is a marketing gimmick. To all bankers, next
time use the correct word. X-banker (Bsc International

Bigger Jawi is
NOT harming the nation:
To SC: Well, before we
DO change the topic, I might as well have my final say. For
your information SC, YES, I can read deeply
rooted Jawi as fast as I can read Rumi because being a Muslim and
a Malay, I frequently read my religious books which are written in
Jawi. And for your question of typing everything in Jawi, well,
I'm currently doing a postgraduate research study in the UK and
the shop where I bought this PC only sold keyboards in Roman
alphabets. So what, are you suggesting that I now submit my
thesis in Jawi script because I am an avid Jawi supporter?
Do NOT patronize me by asking such silly questions. Just because I
think the Government's decision is justified in putting up bigger
Jawi words does NOT mean that I too have to resort to using Jawi
in all my correspondence. As much as I advocate the use of Malay
in all formal Government correspondences, I do NOT, however,
neglect the usage of my second language, English, at all. Do you
see the point I am getting at? Just in case you do NOT, I
might as well spell it out to you word by word: an ardent
supporter, or simply a supporter, of any cause, does NOT
imply that your whole world has to revolve around that cause. I am
merely being a total supporter of His Majesty's Government and its
sincere and pure intention in reviving and preserving the usage of
Jawi in which Bahasa Melayu is deeply rooted historically. Rational

you think RTB should employ more talented & younger news

Let's
don't talk people:
To the guy who didn't leave a name. Well, you just didn't
know how much more I have to say. Not necessarily against all
government plans and action. But what I see as priority to speak.
And what I said goes along with the topic flow of this forum. When
there is time to present other cases, like you suggested
afflicting other social aspects or race, and when there is such
cases in news to present, and given the time and patience of
fellow men and women here, of course I would. But I agree with all
these demands to stop the race issue and the Jawi issue.
Changes might be good or bad, you can never tell. Just like when
Malaysia decided to start their Malay based education system,
there was a whole lot of support at that time and to some extent
now. But that decision handicapped the level of English and when
the students moved to universities especially overseas, most of
them lagged behind (not everyone though) in their scholastic
achievements.
If you don’t understand anything, just ask yourself prior to
jumping into conclusions and before any personality judgements. SC

Change
topic....
Let's
just have my final say. A bigger Jawi (twice) of Rumi for signs or
road signs mean the whole sign board size have to go up, just for
the mere sake of....what? What about cutting costs or good, well
planned use of money?
Can you really read Malay Jawi as fast as you could with Rumi
Malay?
If you really aspire Jawi so much, why type everything here in
Rumi? I don't mind figuring the Jawi you will type. True, I might
not understand much Jawi, but given time, and a good practical
reason for my use of it, I will take the effort to learn it.
Meanwhile, I don't think I need those signs. SC sc@email.com

Difficulty
of Jawi:
Do we have a clear policy on WHY we and our children should
be learning Jawi? Will it help us and our children face the
real world out there? Will it help them in terms of their
employability not only internationally but also in Brunei?
Even in the government - practically all correspondence is done
NOT in Jawi (I just hope that by mentioning this, those Jawi
advocates will not make it a government policy that everybody must
write Jawi in all official communications from now on; and all
promotions will be based on how well and fast you can write and
read Jawi - otherwise I bet more than half of our senior civil
servants will not get them to where they are now!). It is
fair and fine for some of our folks to learn Jawi for sentimental
sake; it was the sole means of communicating and learning in the
old days back in the 40's and 50's. BUT unfortunately it is
no more used in acquiring knowledge and more importantly in coming
to terms with the current challenges. I respect those who
want to revive it - just like those who insist on learning Latin.
But by imposing them on others; on our kids is it justified?
How many books are now written in Jawi that deal with contemporary
subjects? Even in Islamic knowledge - many more books are
being written in romanicised version (even in English); and if we
want to learn about Islam - these romanicised ones would be more
than sufficient. So the question is WHY? I can
understand the logic of learning Arabic, as it is very much a
living language with a whole range of subjects being written in
it; be it religion, history, politics, science and technology.
It is after all one of the official languages in the United
Nations. But Jawi? Being excellent in Jawi writing
will not get you very far - except in a few jobs (there is now
only one page of a daily newspaper in Brunei and a newspaper in
Malaysia; even Pelita does not use it widely). I just do not
see we here in Brunei will be spearheading "Zaman
Kegemilangan Jawi di Nusantara". We need a dose of
reality. So our government policy ought to be - learning
Jawi SHOULD be optional - for those who want to pursue it - go
ahead. But we must not impose them on everybody. I
would encourage our future generations to take up a third or
fourth language (after Malay, English and for some Mandarin)- be
it Arabic, French, Spanish, Mandarin or Japanese. In fact
the amount of efforts and valuable time being imposed on our kids
to take up Jawi would have been better spent on them learning
these languages. They can perhaps learn more from them not
only on contemporary subjects such as science and technology but
also on Islam. Alif 09.03.2002

In
support of Jawi and the Government:
SC: Like hello? Who's talking about road signs here?
Please read the report carefully before butting in. The usage of
Jawi is NOT only limited to road signs, but also to
advertisements, posters, signboards etc. Besides, the Government
is NOT abandoning Romanised Malay altogether. The signboards,
posters, etc. will be presented in both Roman alphabets and Jawi
letters. So, when driving and you see a road sign displaying both
Roman and Jawi, you have the option of either reading the former
or the latter. In your case as well as the case of other Chinese,
just read the Romanised ones. "We shouldn't change things
overnight" - no one is doing this overnight! If you look
closely, almost all signboards particularly the ones on shops are
presented in both Jawi and Roman alphabets. And surprise,
surprise, Chinese restaurants prominently display Chinese
characters alongside Romanised Malay of the Chinese translation
PLUS Jawi characters of the Malay words. Stop being so absurd! And
Mul, in your previous message, you wrote "good
luck on your kick foreigner away promotion" coupled with your
statement that foreigners have complained about Brunei signboards,
you ARE implying that this new project launched by His Majesty's
Government is chasing tourists away. Also, in your recent message
you wrote and I quote "seeing all other nations around us
moving so fast forward(?) we are still sitting back and enjoying
our life." What exactly are you trying to say here? From the
sound of it, you are implying that the usage of bigger Jawi is a
sign of backwardness. What? Please be more explicit. Your comments
and arguments are completely groundless and baseless. If you do
NOT have a point, don't then bother sending in your comments. By
the way, if I were to write for instance, a letter, in Malay but
using Jawi alphabets, does that make me an Arab? So your notion
that Jawi characters are for the Arabs is, as before, ridiculous.
Please refer to the history of Bahasa Melayu usage. It used
to be represented in Jawi NOT Roman alphabets. So there! Rational

Reading all
Social Critic's claims and views so far posted in Have You Say, I
have only one thing to say of this character: He/she is a Chinese
who is against any changes made within and by the Government of

positive comment regarding the Government's actions from SC.
Maybe you ought to change your name to Government Critic and
Pro-Chinese because your criticisms seem to be aimed at the
workings of the Government and the problems of the Malay
population. If, indeed, you ARE a social critic as your name
alleges then why are there no criticisms on other social aspects

Jawi:
Yeeah.. I gree with RATIONAL. What's the fuss with
Jawi getting bigger? I don't see any problem at all! Jawi
handwriting was introduced in Primary schools in Brunei since
several years ago, even the Chinese are learning Jawi. I assume
orang² yang complain tulisan jawi atu orang yang inda ampit
belajar tulisan Jawi masa dulu.. Asal penggunaan bahasa Melayu
dulu ditulis dengan tulisan jawi. We are aiming to preserve the
original MALAY (not necessarily Arabic) handwriting.. The ancient
hieroglyphic handwriting, a preserved heritage which, the
Egyptians are really proud of, has actually attracted many
tourists who visited their country. We are emphasizing on the MIB
concept. Kalau Malaysia & Indonesia inda memperluaskan tulisan
Jawi, means they emphasize on other things and it doesn’t mean
they are not using Jawi handwriting at all.
Kalau dipergunakan secara meluas pun tulisan Jawi atu, it
doesn’t mean that we are not using Rumi handwriting anymore..
so, no need to worry about writing memos or anything whatsoever in
Jawi!! ROS 08.03.2002

Bigger Jawi????
Ya
ya whatever.... I never said bigger Jawi words will chase visitors
away.. It might be an attraction too... but then.. in practical
sense... why???? We want to make life more convenient not
complicated... we are a bahasa melayu and English speaking
country...We are not ARABS. We have own our set of MIB no
matterwhat others do.... but then never mind, as time and time the
government does mysterious things, mysterious as in a way of their
strange promoting national prosperity. I love the peace and
welfare we enjoy now, million thanks to the Brunei Government. But
then when I come to think of our future generation, seeing all
other nations around us are moving so fast forward and we are
still sitting back and enjoying our life, when the day we really
run out of support and when we really need to work like the
others... then you see what I mean... good luck Mul

Apa
dah jadi dengan bini-bini kitani ?
Masa
ani sana-sini kitani boleh dapati dengan mudah bini-bini kitani
berpakaian (khususnya seluar) yang menjolok mata. Aku pernah
nampak ada satu keluarga (ibu-bapa dan anak-anak) berjalan di
plaza Athirah, batu satu. Sianak bini-bininya atu sekitar 20-25...Masya-Allah...seluarnya
terluan fit, luan sampit sampai nampak takah sependad. Mana lagi
dengan jalannya tergelek-gelek yang sudah tentu akan jadi bahan
perhatian muslimin, muslimat dan jantan gatal. Bajunya pun lebih
kurang jua sampitnya sampai nampak takah bra. Yang menjadi
kemusykilannya ialah kenapa siayah membiarkan anaknya berpakaian
miatu. Macamana tah orang kan melarang ni ? Ceramah pihak ugama
pun inda beguna. Karang dijawapnya " BAPAKU INDA MELARANG,
KITA PULANG SEBOK" diri yang pahit liur. Ada lagi satu kes
masa di Hua-Ho kiulap tapi ani bini orang pulang sudah ada baby
dikipak oleh lakinya. Sibini ani bajunya o.k pulang tapi seluarnya
sampit nampak takah panty. Entah kalau duduk koyak tia kali. Yang
ani lakinya pulang yang selahau membiarkan bininya miatu. Tapi
kadang2 bini ani keras kepala jua inda merati dilarang. Satu kes
lagi di Athirah jua ada saorang ayah yang beruban sudah rambutnya
membawa 2 perempuan remaja (duduk belakang kereta) mungkin anaknya
kali ah..Mula-mula keluar seorang..o.k..sikit..tapi bila yang
saorang lagi keluar ..Subhanallah..membari watir. Dengan mua
marung, rambut menutup dapan mua (fesyen apa ni?), seluar jeans
sampit berabis, baju singkat nampak pusat dan yang paling membari
watir lagi ialah lemak dipinggangnya kiri kanan meladit keluar.
Iatah kan diliatkan arah orang lamaknya atu ?. Persoalannya
sekarang kenapa bini-bini Brunei ani berpakaian miatu ? Inda
belajar agamakah cara menutup aurat ?. Menurut hukum syarak, kalau
terlihat perempuan sekali dikira rahmat dan inda berdosa tapi
kalau dilihat lagi kali kedua ia akan menjadi haram. Tapi orang
yang menjadi punca dosa tadi sudah tentu akan menerima dosa yang
lebih besar lagi. Pakaian singkat miani boleh memancing jantan
gatal. Jangan salahkan perogol 100% apabila sudah kena rogol. BK

Marriage
and fat women
Dear
Ahmad Yassin, Your statement which says "Mun udah lampuh,
baik ulah pun laki inda berapa sayang, laki mau jua yang
slim" shows that you are a man who thinks not with your brain
but with that one-eyed snake between your scrawny legs. I am glad
that not all men have this shallow-level of thought as you do. Do
not get me wrong, but if a man decides to marry more than one,
then so be it because the religion of Islam permits polygamy. But
to generalize that all husbands would zoom off at the first sign
of their wives' flabby flesh or cellulite is very premature and
irrational. Maybe it is true of you because you have not
heard of unconditional love, only of pure lust, but it is unfair
to extend this putrid generalization to all men. Besides, if
indeed your statement is true, you are basically implying that the
male species are stupid because according to you, marriage to them
is based solely on looks and looks alone. I refute this outrageous
claim of yours because I know of a lot (and I do mean A LOT) of
decent, respectable, and unlike you, INTELLIGENT men who love
their wives regardless of their size, weight, shape etc. Kalau tah
banar nyamu atu, kenapa tia ada si Polan bin si Polan atu
ber'affair' sama bini-bini Cina sedangkan bininya bukan nda main
lawa, pandai bergaya, tapi badan mengalahkan anak dara! What's
your explanation for this, you so-called 'wise one'? Femma

Road
signs
While it's true to keep a Brunei heritage of Jawi, I think we need
to make sense of one thing. Does everyone read Jawi as fast as
they read Roman alphabets of Malay? If not, there would be no
point in putting up road signs and boards in Jawi when in driving,
you have no time to read it properly.
It's an English educated world we are in or a world that uses
roman alphabets, I can say for almost all countries. We shouldn't
change things overnight.
Foreigners or expats do not know Jawi. Not all of our locals do
either.
It would be just fine if we use romanised Malay that everyone
understands as those in Japan
or Russia understand roman alphabets.
The basic point of which is, road signs are there to inform. No
point if one does not understand it. Oh, BnO, I
didn't claim I presented the true picture or undistorted case. I
am just offering my view on a case. Just to reconfirm with you. Social

Bigger Jawi
alphabet does NOT deter tourism!:
To Mul: Are you saying that putting up bigger Jawi
words on Brunei's signboards will drive tourists away from Brunei?
Now that's what I call dumb and stupid! Look at Japan for
instance. The signboards are displayed in huge Japanese
characters. In Russia, the Russian alphabets are very much in use
on the signboards as well. What are you complaining about anyway?
Only those of low IQs would associate 'international status' of a
country with the kinds of alphabets they use on their signboards.
Your arguments do not make any sense AT ALL. "(I)t was only
visible in Jawi which no one understand" - what a crock of
bull! To say that NO ONE understands Jawi is a stupid
generalization. I for one understand Jawi although I'm educated in
the English medium. Jangan tah kan sombong-sombong ani! Even if we
are marching into the new millennium, we should NOT abandon the
country's old heritage. Remember, in the olden days Bahasa Melayu
was incorporated using Jawi, not Roman alphabets. I fully support
the Government of His Majesty's decision to use bigger Jawi! Rational

Thank you for your advice & concerns.. It makes me stronger.
"Isteri Setia Jua" what you say is all true. I feel we

mana
tia budget?:...ada satu issue that I want to bring forward
here. That is regarding the ugama school located along the stretch
between the traffic lights at bengkurong and kilanas bebatik area,
near the Springdale housing area. (I have forgotten the name of
the school).
My little sister is currently studying there, darjah 1 and yang
menjadi masalah is that the school seems to be running out of book
supply. As we now know, all government school provided their
students with books (loaned to them).
My sister didn’t 'ampit' 2 of the textbooks needed, thus was
advised instead to photocopy those two books from friends.
The big question here is has that school thought of asking
the relevant authorities to increase the ugama book supply of the
school? And if so, how come nothing is being done by those people
up there?
As far as I know, education is strongly stressed by HM, but still
why are there such occurrence?
And sampai bilatah ni?kesian students yg nda ampit buku2 text
atu..bukan saja menyusahkan students but also their parents as
well.
Yes, I know you can get it copied but its still unfair for them.
So will the relevant authorities please look into this
matter?Maybe is useful if you guys do check ups on the schools to
see if they have adequate supply of books. Kan di apa tia kamu2
ani..jan tau duduk2 di upis, udah kan kana lawat, barutah kelam
kabut (which is typical). You guys do not get paid to sit around..

life:
I just wanna share my sweet memories with you all...tadi my
bro ceta ia ke kadai ia teliat mee goreng bebungkus kertas
minyak..waktu dulu harganya 20sen..so melarat ceta kami waktu kami
sekolah rendah dulu... ingat ku dulu waktu rehat kami semua
berabut ke kedai runcit di sekolah kami...rasakan mau ampit
membali nasi, mee n kerupok...sanggup betolak tolak arah kantin
atu..kejam lagi org kadai atu buka tabuk saja..so space kami sikit
ganya..apa lagi kami main punggung mengasak..sudah belurih nasi
atu terpaksa menahan makai punggung jua kan mengeluarkan diri
ah..aku apa lagi rasakan mau keluar, abis biut membiut tudungku...atu
kan bisai karau tudung ku atu bakas ku karaukan makai dian...hahahha
My point to my story is...how Brunei change in a couple of
years...how it developed so much already..and then you all can see
that inflation rate going up now...dulu gula2 sepusin 3 buting...now
ada gula2 sepusin sebiji..kanak kanak dulu kana batai makanan di
rumah ada yg kana bagi bepusin pusin atau seringgit kesekolah....now
diorang kana batai beringgit ringgit because of the cost of the
food at the kantin if expensive...tapi ada yg baiknya jua masih
kes berabut membali makanan mengasak makai punggung atu lah...mcm
tradition udah jadinya...hehehe...mengaraukan tudung inda makai
dian lagi...ada udah spray starch..hehehe
Now Brunei develop..much more peaceful than today...dulu payah kan
dangar kes bunuh tah..kes dera kah...kes maksiat kah...maybe lah
ah dulu inda te expose to other people's culture and all..now
things getting more expensive and more sophisticated...crime
increases...jobs getting more competitive everyday..dulu
qualification yg tinggi O'level now ani naik udah ke degree and
masters...because of this, a lot of people change...rambut banyak
fashion udah..nda lagi kilat beminyak...ada udah gel and mousse
sebagai pengganti...tapi ada plg masih yg makai minyak piasau
atu.jadi tradisi katakan... The saddest thing is..now ada tah kes
racism tah...laki gatal tah... mengusut itu ini...from this....I
just wanna say...god....I miss the good old days...don't you? bunal

Bigger Jawi:
It is a waste of time having Jawi in all banners and road signs.
And why must it be bigger than the rest! To me it is a sign
backward. We should just use bahasa and english. Use Jawi only for
religious schools purposes. Why make Jawi part of national image?
For what? To show our past Arabic connections? Unless tomorrow
everyone is told to write memos in Jawi, then OK la. Babaji 07.03.2002

Bigger Jawi????
Can
anyone please tell me why are bigger Jawi words better? We are
trying hard to promote Brunei as an international country and
already I have experienced people asking me or complaining to me
that foreigners actually have trouble reading signboards as it was
only visible in Jawi which no one understand. And now u are even
promoting bigger version. Well nothing to say, just good luck on
your kick foreigner away promotion. mul 07.03.2002

Truly an eye opener, SC, but.....
I have no
intention to prolong this sticky debate but I hope SC is quite
happy with the "conclusion" especially put forward by
our own resident commentator, GH :).. and let's be
fair on GH, he was merely presenting his case and
never "bashed" anyone in this forum, let alone you SC.
We've all expressed quite clearly what we "perceived" to
be our belief in this whole issue of racism. So, SC
since you claim that you've seen and presented the true picture
(undistorted?) of the situation in Brunei perhaps YOU have the
recipe for change. That's fine. In the meantime why not stay a
proud citizen and you'll be all right. And by the way, what's that
love stories all about??? adang eh..inda berapa intellectual bah,
jangan marah ye :) BnObserver 07.03.2002

Virus
into WWF:
In
my opinion, the New World Order, the NWO will inject a virus into
the WWF. Mc Mahon should know better that Kevin Nash and his
cronies will destroy the federation slowly from inside. What?
What? What? Stone Cold Steve Austin should be sacked from the
Federation, he is so irritating. Stephanie Mcmahon's husband the
game tripple HHH should be crucified for lying to the public. But
the Brahma Bull have the right to challenge Chris Jericho for the
undisputed world championship, it is about time we smell what the
rock is cooking?.
The Singapore tour was so awesome, it was the first time we saw it
all life. I think the federation should come back for another
light-striking performances. and I love Donna., Hulk Hogan 07.03.2002

To Sasak,
Dilemma and Jack:
Oh Jack, what a great story
you have. Once upon a time (try this one but this is a
really true story ) I was feeling very, very deeply in love with
my class mate at Maktab Duli, I was a shy and nervous person when
come to the person I admired. So I never got to tell her how
I felt about her until about 4 years later (if I am not mistaken)
after we didn’t see each other that long. All those years
in between I was trying to make myself a good person in everything
I did including trying to get rid of my shyness (in a good way)
which was very difficult. Anyway we met again because we
were at the same school or college, whatever people call it.
At last I gathered all my guts and energy to tell her that I was
falling in love with her, in a technical or tactical way that she
understood me by asking me for confirmation. CRASHED BOOM
BANG. There went a love tower that I built for so long.... 4
years. 4 years my love never went off until that day.
After that day, I was really sick, pained, shoot in the heart, or
what ever you call it. It went on years after that until I
found somebody I newly admired, then I started thinking, If I've
been with my first crush girl, would it had been good or what?
Now I am very, very happy with somebody else. So
Sasak & Dilemma, don’t be upset if your love have
not been answered, but I agree with Jack you should
regret if you didn’t tell her at all. You should be happy
if you tell her, even if you fail in love this time, because you
should be proud of yourself for having guts to do so.
Everyone gets his/her pair or partner sooner or later but my
advice is just pray to have a good partner or good pair.
Don’t be upset if you failed this time, she might not be a good
partner to you, she might not be good to you either. IF
SHE'S THE RIGHT PERSON FOR YOU IN YOUR LIFE, THEN EVERYTHING MIGHT
COME EASY JUST DO YOUR BEST. If she's not the right person
for you then everything might become wrong, just like my life love
story!
... My another advice: pray Istikharah you won’t be upset
when she dump you because you might find another love quite
easily. JUST ALWAYS DO ISTIKHARAH YOU’LL BE FINE, BELIEVE
ME CAUSE I DO AND ITS PROVEN TRUE. Mister Man 06.03.2002

The
end of the beginning To
GH. I am sorry for your consistent misunderstanding of my post.
Also sorry that you never answered the questions nor addressed the
points of the discussion. In the beginning you contributed by
bringing in the fear issue, which open up topic of discussions.
Yet rather than listen to other persons view, you try to degrade
them, preferring to stick to your own views of things. Apart from
bashing everyone that try to present their comments, you have done
nothing constructive in resolving this issue, yet further bringing
in biased views of Chinese. Remember that in order to solve issues
like racism, we need to be impartial and listen more, talk less.
Facts even if I have, are not always solidly available and come in
black and white. Facts need research and the intention and
go-ahead to do the research and the impartiality of the party
doing it. Not always possible. Therefore, research based facts
cannot always be presented, but that does not mean that fact is
absent or made up.
To BnO. I am not distorting any picture. I am just
presenting pictures of which you had never seen, or you have
perceived differently. Not everyone see the same image of one
thing.
Finally, might seem strange, but I am a citizen and proud to be
one. Just that I dislike inequality and favouritism as much as
anyone else. One issue is just this stateless and race issue.
Finally, it has been a great discussion and eye opener to the
sorts of people we have in....this forum. I wouldn't say this
represents overall Brunei. SC sc@brudirect.com

Isteri Setia:
The thought of losing your husband to someone else is
really frightening indeed. That's the thing I fear the most now
because as much as people say basar pahalanya kalau isteri
merelakan suaminya kahwin lagi, berat bah rasanya kan accept the
fact yg diri udah kena madukan. I remember ada my male friend
cakap that Brunei girls nowadays are vindinctive sebab ia pernah
kana kaca oleh this girl who wouldn't take 'no' for an answer,
sedangkan he was seriously involved with someone at that time. And
I used to have girlfriends who said that a married man would not
deter them from tackling him, lebih-lebih lagi tah kalau that guy
is kaya and he treats his wife very nicely indeed. To them that
means the man would be able to care for them the same way jua and
shower them with the same kind of love and attention (more like
wealth pulang kali because they did say that looks don't matter as
long as he drives a flashy car). Ada jua yang pernah becakap that
they would be very proud if they could land such a man, especially
tah kalau bini, tunang or girlfriend the guy atu lawa sebab it
shows that, no matter how drop-dead gorgeous the guy's partner is,
the fact that he is tempted by their seductions is enough to prove
that they are at par with the guy's partner. I am a teacher
at a high institution and apparently, some of the female students
have said something along similar lines to my colleagues. I was
very shocked to hear that! It shows that sesetengah wanita masa
ani nda lagi memikirkan tentang rumahtangga orang lain, cuma
kepentingan dan kemewahan diri sendiri. It's sad, but true. Isteri
