New Beginning
For Asean


Happy family... His Majesty joins hands with other leaders
at the 13th Asean Summit.


Bandar Seri Begawan -
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday signed the historic Asean Charter and called it a new beginning for Asean as it will ensure the implementation of Asean's commitments and allow the grouping to be more cohesive politically, better integrated economically and socially responsible to its people.

A 46-year-old Bruneian was fined $20,100 or 11 months and a week's imprisonment in default by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after he pleaded guilty to conveying 257 undeclared mobile phones worth more than $50,000 and to three other offences.
