Local SMEs To Participate In Sabah International Exhibition

Bandar Seri Begawan – A total of 19 Small and Medium Enterprises will be participating in the Sabah International Exhibition (SIE) 2008 from Oct 15 to 19 under the pavilion of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (Min) in efforts to promote their products with an objective of dominating the regional market.

The local SMEs — to be led by MIPR officers with Pg Hamrondiny Pg Hj Tajuddin as the head of delegation and Siti Abidah Alli, as the liaison officer — will depart by bus at 8.30 am on Oct 13 from the MIPR Building in Berakas.

Ten of the SMEs namely - Sri Lyeira Enterprise, Alai Nadhirah Haafizhaah Enterprise, Noraini's Bakery, HKH Fastfood and Takeaway, Perusahaan Aminah, Syarikat Shamim, Mishah Enterprise, Tasconi's Pizza, JRS Enterprise and BMC Food Industries SDN BHD - wilt be participating in the food division to exhibit and promote their products.

The other eight SME's - Syarikat Ridah, Syarikat

Hanyes, SZ Jacqueline Enterprise, Syarikat Hashma, Musufiya Enterprise, Batik Desa Mas, Syarikat Asnika and Perusahaan Aiman - will be involved in the handicraft, textile and embroidery section.

Hasmit Shield Roofing Manufacture SDN BHD will be participating in the manufacturing sector to exhibit its ceramic products for flooring, wall, roofing and fences as well as other products offered by the company.

Two other local SMEs SPHI Food Industries and Q-YAD'S Boutique will only be sending representatives as trade visitors.

The biennial SIE event will be held at the Kinabalu International Convention Centre (K1CC), 1 Borneo, and is expected to draw more than 300 participants occupying nearly 400 booths, more than double the 134-booths during the SIE 2006.

Dubbed as the biggest trade exhibition in B1MPEAGA (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines East Asian Growth Area) region, it will kick off with the International Business Conference. The expo will be launched by Sabah's Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman at the Borneo ballroom, KICC on Oct 15.

The state government of Sabah has collaborated with the Federation of Sabah Manufacturers (FS M) and Malaysian international Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), Sabah branch to organize the SIE 2008 with Petronas as a major corporate sponsor.

Twenty-four foreign countries including Brunei Darussalam, US, China, Eastern Europe, Italy, France, Egypt, UK, and member nations of Asian will be participating in the SIE2008.

It is expected to draw more than 50,000 local and foreign visitors including those from Brunei.

This year's expo will focus mainly on agriculture, tourism and manufacturing including property development and real estate. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
