Kind-hearted Villagers Volunteer In 'Cemetery Cleaning Campaign'
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan – The spirit of cooperation and volunteerism was evidently seen when more than 50 villagers volunteered to answer the call of the Takmir Committee of Masjid Kg Junjungan in the "Cemetery cleaning campaign".

Armed with parangs, grass cutters, hoes and other relevant equipments, the kind-hearted volunteers, which included senior citizens and children, managed to complete the task in just a few hours that involved cleaning up two Islamic gravesites located at the Mangatai and Parit villages.

When the cleaning campaign concluded, the volunteers offered prayers for the deceased by reciting the tahlil led by the Imam of Masjid Kg Junjungan, Hj Hayrol bin Hj Hakim.

Hj Hayrol, the chairman of the Takmir Committee of Masjid Kg Junjungan said the campaign was to clear the cemeteries in preparation for Muslims

who will be visiting the gravesites of their loved ones this Ramadhan and Hari Rayit Aidilfitri.

"The campaign was also meant to encourage the spirit of cooperation and volunteerism amongst the villagers to help each other not only during festivities but also in times of tragedies," he said.   -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
