Attention Mariners: Seismic Operations From Oct 15-25

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Marine Department yesterday notified mariners that seismic operations will be conducted from October 15 to 25, which will be carried out throughout the day and night.

The vessels involved will be the MV Geo Surveyor and Kajib. The Geo Surveyor will tow a seismic streamer cable of up to 1.5km in length beneath the water.

The support vessel, Kajib, will accompany it at some, but not all areas.

The department added that the seismic vessel must be kept cleared off at 2.5 nautical miles ahead.

A 'restricted in the ability to manoeuvre' sign will also be put up on the vessel, which can be contacted on VHF channels 15 and 16. The chart affected is BA 2109. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
