Be Constructive And Creative, Teachers Told

Kuala Belait - “Teachers should change their methods of teaching and be more constructive and creative.

"Students should also be given an opportunity for reading time and interactions, as well as to be more proactive and develop a positive attitude or mindset towards an effective learning process based on reading."

This was said by Cikgu Aidin Hj Abu Bakar, the Acting Assistant Director of Lower Education Section, and Department of Schools in his speech as the chief guest at a prize presentation ceremony for the Primary Schools' Reading Culture project this year in Belait District.

He also touched on the importance of language to boost the confidence of students.

Some 80 primary level students and 18 teachers received their prizes for winning and participating in various activities of the programme this year in an event that took place yesterday morning at the multi-purpose hall of Sekolah Rendah PSJ Pg Abd Momin. Meanwhile, Principal Cikgu Hjb Zahrah Abdullah said that the project's purpose was to create interest and elevate the reading skills of students through games and competitions.

They were also participated by the teachers.

This year, the programme was coordinated by three zones, with each one in charge of planning and conducting appropriate, diverse activities for the students.

The Belait zone, comprising Sekolah Rendah Sungai Teraban, SR Ahmad Tajuddin, SR Kuala Belait, SR PSB SOAS and SR PSK handles Pre-School students.

The Seria zone, which comprises SR Pg Seta Negara Pg Mohd Yusof, SR Muhammad Alam and SR Panaga, had the Upper Primary Level.

The Lower Primary Level activities, meanwhile, were conducted by the Liang-Lumut zone, comprising SR Lumut, SR Sungai Liang, SR Sungai Tali, SR Sungai-Liang, SR Labi, SR Rempayoh, SR Merangking, SR OKPB Bukit Sawat, SR DMS Dian Sukang and SR Melilas.
