Bandar Seri
Begawan - Mohd Abd Wafi bin Mohd Akid, a two-and-a-half-year-old
child who has been suffering from recurrent fits for the past three
months, needs funds to undergo an MRI brain scan.
According to the medical officer of
Ward 1 at RIPAS Hospital, the child has been admitted at the
hospital a number of times and was treated with anti-convulsants.
The medical officer said that the
child needs an MRI scan for further evaluation at Jerudong Park
Medical Centre (JPMC).
The cost of the brain scan is $900.
As the child's father, Mohd Akid
bin Abd Rahman, is a permanent resident and holds a red identity
card, he is not eligible for free medical treatment in Brunei
Darussalam.
The child's father is APO police
personnel at Reserve Unit ‘C’ Coy in Muara, while his mother
Noramirah Abd Rahim is a housewife.
The father told the Borneo Bulletin
that he would rush his child to the Emergency Ward at RIPAS Hospital
from Muara whenever he loses consciousness.
He added that his child would
normally remain unconscious for as long as 10 minutes. He said that
he needs more than $900 for the brain scan and follow-up treatments
for his son..
