Bandar Seri
Begawan - Some 400 members of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce,
BSB, one of the largest business associations in Brunei Darussalam,
celebrated the Mooncake Festival with a entertainment-filled grand
dinner at the Orchid_ Garden Hotel, on Thursday evening.
Mr
Soon Teng Kha, the co-chairperson of the organising committee, said
the Mooncake Festival is one of the oldest Chinese traditions that
should not be missed by the Chinese community.
He described the mooncake as special,
saying that no dessert looks or tastes like mooncake and it is only
available during the festival.
Miss Liew Yian Choo, the other
co-chairperson of the organising committee, highlighted that besides
eating mooncakes and lighting lanterns, the significance of the
Mooncake Festival is to bring together family members to celebrate the
auspicious occasion.
Prior to the start of the dinner, Mr
Robert Koh Hoe Kiat, President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, BSB,
with the vice presidents of the association as well as the other
members officiated the ceremony.
