In Court

Bandar Seri
Begawan - Is someone in the police trying to "fix" Richard Chia
Kok Hiong, the 53-year-old car salesman now charged with the brutal
murder of a family of three in Bandar Seri Begawan suburb two years
ago?
Richard in his statement in court
raised this question that how could the police know that there was
blood in his wife's car, Nissan Sunny BN 8908, even before the police
entered the car to do a search.
"How could the police know that there
was blood in BN 8908 on December 20, 2004 when they said they never
entered the car?
"The police said they never entered
the car before and that they did so only the day after when the
experts examined BN 8908?" Richard asked Chief Justice Dato Mohd Saied
and Mr Justice Dato Steven Chong.
Richard is accused of killing his
neighbour's family and drove his wife's Nissan Sunny on the night of
December 15 or early December 16 2004 to the scene of crime.
Found with horrendous wounds were
Maul bin Jambu, 44, his schoolteacher wife Seriidvati binte Untong,37,
and their adopted daughter Neena Asmira, aged 2 at a government
bungalow in Kampong Serusop. The little girl was smothered with a
pillow.
And how come the police knew it was
Maul's blood even before the experts examined it, Richard further
asked in his statement to the court. The police had planted the traces
of blood in the car intentionally, Richard charged in court.
Otherwise they knew that they had
contaminated the inside of BN 8908 but chose not to disclose this
possible contamination. "The police advance knowledge of the presence
of `blood' in BN 8908 and the knowledge that it was Maul's even before
getting the expert report makes this a very real possibility," Richard
said in court.
Or was the dry particles indeed
`blood' or has it been changed to stains before being sent to
Singapore? Richard asked.
"I am not even sure that the `dry
particles' taken by Dr Telesinghe were in fact `stains' examined in
Singapore or has been switched to stains before being sent to
Singapore," he questioned
The police also did not wear any
protective clothing when they examined his wife's car. So perhaps the
police unintentionally contaminated BN 8908, he told the court. -- Courtesy of Borneo
