Contest Oct 1
By Achong Tanjong
Bandar Seri
Begawan - All fish lovers in the country will have the
opportunity to witness Brunei's first Japanese Koi competition on
October 1 at Sykt Biotropical Fish Shop in Kg Bunut from 8am till 4pm.
It is jointly organised by Sykt
Biotropical Fish Shop, Gardenia and Hypermart. The competition will
showcase high grade Japanese Koi from first to fifth generations.
According to Mr Ricky of Sykt
Biotropical Fish Shop, the public are welcome to witness the
competition free of charge.
In Brunei, not many people raise
Japanese Koi, as the fish is very expensive, he said. He also added
that in Brunei one of his customers owns a Japanese Koi measuring up
to 80cm (three feet) in length and another two feet long.
The event is organised in response to
his customers' requests. Mr Ricky will also sponsor prizes for the
winning entries.
"We organise the competition for fun
and at the same time we hope to bring together all Japanese Koi lovers
to share their views and experiences. It is also to give members of
the public the opportunity to have a closer look at the fish," he
said.
The competition is only open to the
Japanese Koi category and will be judged by invited guests from
Malaysia. -- Courtesy of Borneo
