ISB Writers Excel In 2006
Competition
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Primary students of International School of
Brunei (ISB) were recently delighted to celebrate the writing success
of two members of their community.
India Nathan and Jeffrey King entered
the 2006 Royal Commonwealth Society writing competition in March and
were rewarded for their efforts with a special award of commendation
from the Society.
`Write Around The World' is organised
each year by the Royal Commonwealth Society and a large number of
schools from all over the Commonwealth participate.
Six thousand entries from 1,350
schools show that last year was no exception.
The aims of the competition are to
encourage a higher standard of writing amongst children and also to
allow children to participate in a global project.
Academic and social success is often
based upon writing and good communication skills and these are
promoted at ISB through its Literacy Programmes.
Both students chose the topic '...
and that is why I didn't go to school' and are eager to enter the
competition again this year. All details for the competition can be
found on the Royal Commonwealth Society website. -- Courtesy of Borneo
