Early Start To Raya Shopping

Bandar Seri Begawan - Hundreds of shoppers thronged the Atrium Hall, The Mall in Gadong yesterday as the Expo Raya kicked off.

Selling a variety of Hari Raya necessities, the Expo drew a very encouraging response when it opened at loam.

Organised by a local organiser, the Expo is aimed at boosting business for local entrepreneurs. "The Expo also encourages our shoppers to spend their money here instead of travelling abroad," added the organiser.

More than 40 participants are showcasing Raya clothes, shoes, jewellery, handbags and many other goods. For example, one entrepreneur is selling handmade carpets as well as colourful Raya cakes.

Open from 10am to 10pm, the Expo is offering goods at attractive prices with some items at 50 per cent discount. The Expo ends on October 6, 2006.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
