New Wider Bridge For Kilanas-Bebatik

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Department of Roads under the Public Works Department (JKR) has urged road users to take extra precautions when driving in the Kilanas-Bebatik area from tomorrow, September 29, to Sunday October 1 as construction work will be carried out to replace the existing Bailey bridge at the Kilanas Bebatik/Jalan Tutong junction with a new 2-lane carriageway concrete bridge.

According to the department's press release, continuous effort to replace existing Bailey bridges in the country is being undertaken by the JKR to meet "high traffic demands One such project currently under implementation is the replacement of the Bailey bridge at Kilanas-Bebatik/Jalan Tutong.

The Bailey bridge there will be replaced by a "new concrete bridge, which is upgraded into a 2-lane carriageway, the release added.

Temporary traffic arrangements would be in place for residents in the area and its vicinity during the construction period, including road closure to allow for the dismantling of the existing bridge and its reinstallation at a nearby location. The reinstalled bridge will then be used as a temporary detour during the construction of the new bridge.

In light of the developments, the Department of Roads advised the public that the Kilanas-Bebatik road will be closed for three days, beginning tomorrow, September 29 until Sunday, October 1. Signs advising of the road closure will be displayed prominently to inform commuters.

They are advised to take alternative routes such as the Kilanas-Mulaut road or the Bengkurong-Masin road, when travelling to and from Kampong Bebatik-Kilanas during the period of closure.
