Early Start To Raya Preparations
By Yusrin Junaidi

Bandar Seri Begawan - In the run-up to the Hari Raya festivities, celebrants are usually tied down with beautifying both their homes and surroundings in preparation for the arrival of visitors.

At one home in Kg Manggis Satu, the scene is no different. This year, Hardy Sufardy, who is residing at the home of his parents, decided to set up the 'pelita' (lamps) early to avoid the last minute rush.

With the help of his wife, he was able to line-up the lamps around the compound and gate, further strengthening the pre-festive spirit.

The pelita is a traditional lamp that dates back to the 1930s, which is placed around the house to mark the Hari Raya festivities at the end of the fasting month.
