Chinese Opera, Performance To Mark
Mooncake Fest

Begawan - The Chinese community in the country will be
celebrating the mooncake festival on October 6 or the 15th day of the
eighth month in the lunar calendar.
The festival is one of the
significant celebrations of the Chinese people.
According to the Chinese, the festive
celebration is to mark the day when the Chinese people were believed
to have freed themselves from marauding invaders by hiding their
strategic plans in mooncakes.
As a preparation for the upcoming
mooncake festival, a makeshift theatre has been set up at the Chinese
Temple in Bandar Seri Begawan.
A Chinese opera will perform for a
week beginning October 6 at the temple and for the comfort of the
public who will be coming to watch the show, fans and basic amenities
will also been installed at the area.
The opera presentation is also held
to mark Guang Zhu Jun Wang's birthday celebration. The public
especially Chinese opera fans are welcome to watch the presentation.
