Brunei Brings Home 3rd Prize From Asean Quiz

Bandar Seri Begawan - Awang Hj Amarul Ariffin bin Hi Suhaili of Berakas Sixth Form Centre (PTE Berakas), who was one of the students who represented Brunei Darussalam in the 3rd Asean Quiz in Kuala Lumpur, returned home yesterday with the third prize.

The four-day competition, which was divided into two categories namely `Individual' and `Group', was participated by ten countries. Awang Hj Amarul was ranked third in the group category.

However, Awang Hj Amarul said that he was disappointed with himself for not bringing home the top prize. He felt that he had let his friends down, too.

He hoped that he would be given another opportunity to represent the country in the future. The deputy principal of PTE Berakas, Hjh Noridah bte Abdullah, told the Bulletin that Awang Hj Amarul was selected as one of the representatives because he is one of the best students at the sixth form centre.

Hjh Noridah added that Awang Hj Amarul had been practising for two months for the competition.

The Brunei delegation arrived at the Brunei International Airport yesterday.
