QAF FC win Klex Cup

Bandar Seri Begawan - QAF FC emerged as the champions of the 2006 nine-a-side Klex Cup when they defeated Megastar 3-2 on penalties after the game ended scoreless at normal time at Belapan field on Monday night.

It was a mentally and physically exhausted match for both teams after they came through two consecutive games (20 minutes each) before the final.

QAF FC beat Seri Kiulap 1-0 in the quarterfinal and went on to win in the semifinal against Seroja Buwana FC 1-0.

Megastar cruised through to the final by beating Kota Junior 3-0 and Star Setia Bakti 1-0 in the quarterfinal and semifinal respectively.

Both teams squandered a couple of chances to take the lead in the final game but remained goalless.

They could only settle the game with the penalty shootout. QAF FC walked away with the challenge trophy and $500 cash prize while Megastar won $350 cash prize.

Sharing third place were Seroja Buwana FC and Star Setia Bakti. Eighteen teams took part in the two-day meet organised by BBJAAH Enterprise.
