Seameo-Voctech Meet To Swap Ideas,
Enhance Trainings

Begawan - The 17th Seameo-Voctech Governing Meeting officially
opened at the Seameo-Voctech Regional Centre yesterday.
The three-day meeting brings together
Seameo-Voctech governing board members from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao
PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and
Brunei.
Additionally, the event is also
participated by representatives from the High Commission of Canada,
Embassy of the Republic of France and the Embassy of the Republic of
Germany, who attended the meeting as representatives for Seameo
Associate Member Countries.
The meeting opened with speeches
delivered by Seameo-Voctech Interim Director Mohammad Abu Bakar,
Governing Board Chairman Haji Abdul Ghani Haj i Omar, and the Director
ofthe ICT Department, Ministry of Education.
The aim of the event is to allow
Seameo-Voctech to inform all members of the board on the
implementation of its mandate in strengthening and improving
vocational and technical education and training through human resource
development in Southeast Asia.
"Through the sharing of views, ideas
and suggestions, there will be greater enhancement of training
activities and programmes, improvement in productivity, and better
serving of target clientele - that is, the Southeast Asian teachers,
education officers and school administrators," said Haji Abdul Ghani
Haji Omar.
Seameo-Voctech
Interim Director said that VTET (Vocational Technical Educational
Training) institutions, organisations and agencies - including
Seameo-Voctech - must be on guard, responsive, productive, flexible
and confident to be competitive in the region so as to be able to
