Temburong Marks World Heart Day

- Temburong celebrated World Heart Day yesterday with a poster
exhibition on healthy lifestyle and heart care.
The guest of honour, Acting Temburong
District Officer, Awg Metussin bin Orang Kaya Sura Hi Tuba, called on
all government officers to ensure they are healthy to provide an
excellent quality of work. A healthy worker will play a better role in
a company or government organisation, he said
He cut the ribbon to open the
exhibition set up on the lobby of the Temburong Hospital.
Also present were Pg I lashim bin Pg
Hj Besar, the event chairman, Mr. Lee Chew Seng, General Manager of
Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd, Ministry of Health staff and invited guests.
Pg Hashim Pg Hj Besar spoke on the
various activities held to highlight the month-long celebration in
creating awareness on the importance of health.
Heart-related diseases kill the most
number of Bruneian after cancer. Individuals are responsible for the
health of their own heart. Risk of premature death due to heart
failure can be reduced through sports activities. Stroke can be
reduced by 25% and heart failure by 40%.
The event, organised in the four
districts by the Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the
Ministry of Health, has `How Young Is Your Heart?' as this year's
heart month celebration theme.
Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd is a joint
effort of Gleneagles International Pte Ltd of Singapore and Jerudong
Park Medical Centre Sdn Bhd.
Activities to highlight the
importance of health care included free health inspection and
