Ehsan
By Kartika Rahman
Bandar Seri
Begawan - As part of the community service, 400 people took
part in one of the largest community projects that Pusat Ehsan has
seen this year.
Organised
by the Police Cadets from schools and colleges, they have expanded
their services towards developing the community, nationality, religion
and nation.
"We need to further develop as
individuals and as a society that cares about the community," said
Awang Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni, Acting Director of Cocurriculum
Education, in his speech as guest of honour for the community project
at Pusat Ehsan.
The 400 participants included 200
officers, supervising teachers and police cadets, 70 members of the
Police Cadet Brass Band and 30 members of 'Orkestra Kebudayaan',
Co-curriculum Education Department while Pusat Ehsan staff, parents,
special students and residents of Kampong Bengkurong made up another
100.
The community project is indirectly
trying to teach the Police Cadets to adopt cooperative habits and
thoughtfulness, which are values very prominently emphasised in the
upcoming month of Ramadhan.
Additionally, the project is also
aimed at congregating Police Cadets from all around the nation in the
form of a community service project to strengthen community ties and
giving the cadets an experience to provide community service.
The project also saw a donation of
B$1,000 to Pusat Ehsan. Supt Haji Mohammed Don bin Haji Harith,
Commander of Royal Brunei Police Force Training Centre handed over the
donation.
Among the activities included
cleaning the classrooms, repainting the vicinity and tidying the
entire area.
The whole-day project was fully
sponsored by the Police Cadets who provided food and cleaning
equipment. To top it off, there were also musical performances by the
Police Cadet Brass Band and 'Orkestra Kebudayaan', Cocurriculum
Education Department. -- Courtesy of Borneo
